Red Sea Media has published the teaser for their next independent film, Where Are You, about a prominent photographer whose sadness leads him on a downhill spiral. Following the unexplained disappearance of his partner, he receives a phone call from a lady who claims to have information on her whereabouts. What ensues is a delirious quest not only to find his love but to discover who he truly is. The video begins with the query “What happened to Nicolas Yerna?” and cuts to a scene where we see Nicolas Yerena (Irakli Kvirikadze) and his soon-to-be-missing lover Matilda (Camille Rowe). Nicolas is a well-known photographer in the entertainment industry who has published a book and had his work featured widely.
He’s shown as a bit of a ladies’ man who sleeps with the same clientele he shoots, but he eventually falls for the artist Matilda. However, the pressure from the media and the loss of someone dear to him are beginning to take their toll. Unfortunately, Matilda is feeling the effects of his loss of skill. But when Matilda goes missing, the whole mood changes dramatically. The true fever dream starts when he gets a phone call from a total stranger, and he starts digging into her past and his to find answers.
However, he becomes further entangled in the mystery surrounding Matilda’s abduction after encountering two mysterious figures, represented by Madelyn Brewer and an intriguing Anthony Hopkins. It appears that the investigators are beginning to suspect Nicolas as he continues his frenzied hunt, which is only taking him further and further into insanity. The trailer’s dreamy conclusion has Nicolas doubting his own sanity and not knowing what to trust. The film was directed by Riccardo Spinotti, Valentina De Amicis, and Matt Handy, who also wrote the script. Spinotti has worked on bigger films before, including as a camera operator on Hercules with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. Meanwhile, Amicis is on the up and up after receiving a lot of attention for her recent short Mother at film festivals.
In addition to Kvirikadze, Rowe, Brewer, and Hopkins, the cast also included Ray Nicholson, Angela Sarafyan, Mickey Sumner, Melora Walters, Christopher Ashman, and Brad Greenquist for the film’s debut feature. The world premiere of the film took place at the 2018 Locarno Film Festival. On October 21, both the video on demand and theatrical releases of Where Are You will begin.
