Marvel Cinematic Universe fans have had a busy few weeks, what with D23 bringing a slew of announcements. However, the most thrilling news came from everyone’s favourite Merc with a Mouth, Deadpool, after the event was over (Ryan Reynolds). The gun-toting antihero first revealed the upcoming release date for Deadpool 3 and then revealed that Hugh Jackman will be co-starring with Ryan Reynolds as the legendary titanium-clawed Wolverine in the picture. Director James Mangold of Logan had some strong feelings about the news. Now, Forbes reports that Reynolds has expressed his enthusiasm for working with Jackman.
Reynolds added in the interview, “I couldn’t be more delighted.” “I mean, in particular in this fashion. Working in this industry has afforded me the opportunity to collaborate with some of my dearest friends from around the globe.” Since Jackman’s Wolverine died at the end of 2017’s Logan, the character’s comeback is all the more thrilling. Reynolds continues by saying that he is as thrilled as fans to have Jackman back in the part and that he is looking forward to working with Jackman again. “He then said, “But I understand how the fans feel. Given the circumstances, I am just as thrilled to see this character return for another voyage. We want to fulfil a long-held desire among moviegoers to see this duo together on the big screen.”
Reynolds and Jackman costarred in X-Men Origins: Wolverine in 2009, with Reynolds playing Weapon XI for Team X. Reynolds, had announced their reunion in a popular video on Twitter, in which he questioned Jackman, “So, when are we going to work together again?” “Oh, Hugh. Do you wish to reprise your role as Wolverine?” After hearing this, Jackman just responds, “Yeah. Certainly, Ryan. In an interview with Forbes, the actor behind Deadpool says he held onto the teaser film and following explanatory information for weeks. Reynolds said, “I’m happy and I’ve been sitting on those two teases for a few weeks now.” When you’re tinkering with the zeitgeist in such a way, “your hand is trembling” at the time you push send or a tweet or a post.
Fans speculate that Wolverine may return through some sort of multiverse antics, albeit this is largely based on the MCU’s increasing interest in this concept. The movie’s plot, in classic Marvel fashion, has been kept secret. Director Shawn Levy (Free Guy) and writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (Deadpool) will be involved. There will be a theatrical release of Deadpool 3 on September 6, 2024.
