Hocus Pocus 2 Is Disney+’s Most Successful Debut Domestically

Hocus Pocus 2, directed by Kenny Ortega and released on Disney+ just in time for Halloween, is a fantasy horror film similar to Ortega’s first from 1993. Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy, and Sarah Jessica Parker reprise their roles as the Sanderson sisters in the sequel Hocus Pocus 2, which once again sets loose witchcraft in Salem, Massachusetts.

In spite of the initial film’s mixed reception, its sequel, Hocus Pocus 2, has been the most watched domestic film launch on Disney+ to date, with over a million hours of viewing in its first three days. Like the previous instalment, the concept of the sequel centres on three high school kids who must band together to stop the Sanderson sisters from spreading havoc in present-day Salem. Winifred (Midler), Sarah (Parker), and Mary (Najimy) return to life in the highly anticipated Anne Fletcher-directed picture, which was released on September 30. They each do what they do best: cause damage.

Hocus Pocus 2 follows Becca (Whitney Peak), Cassie (Lilia Buckingham), and Izzy (Belissa Escobedo), three high school students, as they accidentally resurrect the long-dead sisters. Before All Hallows’ Day dawns, it is up to the young people to stop the ravenous, spiteful, and hungry witches from wreaking more destruction on Salem. Although the initial Hocus Pocus picture did not fare well at the box office, it became a Halloween staple because of increased sales and television airings. Fans were eager to see if the sequel could live up to the original’s brilliance, therefore Hocus Pocus 2 was a much-anticipated film.

The sequel to “Hocus Pocus” deviated significantly from the original. Instead, screenwriter Jen D’Angelo finds a way to elevate the film’s significance while also paying homage to the original picture in a fresh way. In addition to Midler, Parker, and Najimy, Doug Jones returns as Billy Butcherson in Hocus Pocus 2. Hannah Waddingham (Werewolves in the House), Tony Hale (Veep), Froy Gutierrez (Teen Wolf), and Sam Richardson (Werewolves in the House) round out the cast (Ted Lasso). Disney+ subscribers may now experience the enchantment of Hocus Pocus 2.
