Prime Video is giving fans a first peek at its new series The Peripheral at this year’s New York Comic Con. Using the Forever Fab 3D Print Shop, the studio will transport attendees to its dismal future setting. The Javits Center event runs from Thursday, October 6 through Sunday, October 9 and is open every day from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. The storefront looks like any other, but once inside, customers will be immersed in a fantastical future world. Attendees will follow signs that say “see the future printed before your eyes” to the printing press. Once inside, they’ll find themselves surrounded by 3D printers that have brought sweets and Flynne’s Peripheral headset all the way from 2032 to the current day.
As they make their way around the store, the store’s CCTV cameras will play a role in getting them to the mysterious “sim.” From there, the urgency of the messages will increase in the hopes that the attendees would finally grasp the fact that whatever comes next is indeed significant. Visit the Main Stage panel on Saturday, October 8 at 11 a.m. to fully immerse yourself in the play, in addition to the 3D experience. The discussion will feature representatives of the show’s creative team and actors giving an exclusive sneak peek at the show and answering some questions about what fans may anticipate.
Chlo Grace Moretz, Jack Reynor, Gary Carr, T’Nia Miller, and JJ Feild, as well as the film’s director Vincenzo Natali, exec producers Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan, and the show’s creator and showrunner Scott B. Smith, will be among the presenters. Moretz’s character, Flynne Fisher, in The Peripheral is a mother who is fighting to keep her family together. Flynne may be bright and driven, but she doesn’t have much of a future ahead of her. One day, though, she puts on a headset at work that transports her to a futuristic London 70 years from now.
Eventually, she understands that this isn’t a simulation but rather a genuine thing. While this is going on, someone in London’s future discovers Flynne’s reality and makes the link. So, Flynne, rationally, sets out to discover the who and the why of this perilous situation. Members of the supporting cast include Eli Goree, Louis Herthum, Charlotte Riley, Alexandra Billings, Adelind Horan, Alex Hernandez, Katie Leung, Julian Moore-Cook, Melinda Page Hamilton, Chris Coy, Amber Rose Revah, and Austin Rising.
Besides Joy and Nolan, the show’s executive producers are Smith, Natali, Greg Plageman, Athena Wickham, and Steven Hoban. Production companies Amazon Studios and Warner Bros. Television are teaming together with Kilter Films on this one. On Friday, October 21st, the pilot episode of The Peripheral will debut on Prime Video. Up to the season finale on December 9, new episodes will be released every week.
