Comic book readers should put Black Adam at the top of their list of movies to see when they hit theatres. In October, audiences will be able to see Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as the DC Comics antihero. A new poster, produced by IMAX, hints at the film’s vast scope and promises an exciting adventure. The poster provides yet another excellent perspective on Black Adam vs. the JSA (JSA). Black Adam, played by Johnson, looms over the iconic anti-hero and Hawkman in this scene. Adam, in a rather remarkable display, catches Hawkman’s mace with one hand. The remainder of the film’s principal characters clusters around the action’s core.
The Atom Smasher (Noah Centineo), the Cyclone (Quintessa Swindell), Doctor Fate (Pierce Brosnan), and Hawkman (Aldis Hodge) are all featured. Sarah Shahi’s Isis and Bodhi Sabongui’s Amon are also seen on the poster. While the image doesn’t reveal anything new, it serves as a visual reminder that DC Comics fans are in for a treat with this superhero movie. Black Adam and the rest of the Justice Society of America (JSA) make their first appearance in a feature film in this instalment. The theatrical treatment that one of the oldest superhero teams in history has long deserved is finally here.
Even though we’ve seen this combo many times on television (most recently in the fantastic Stargirl series on The CW), it’s still fascinating to witness Brosnan and Hodge, two of the best actors in the world, portraying such iconic characters as Doctor Fate and Hawkman. More so when you take into account the incredible comic-accurate outfits worn by the squad and Black Adam. The filmmakers found a way to keep faithful to the comics while modernising everyone’s design to reflect the contemporary DCEU style, even if characters like Doctor Fate and Hawkman don’t have the simplest costumes to pull off in live-action. Exciting as it will be to watch Adam take on The JSA, the current teaser promises plenty of explosive action as well.
Imagining the JSA battle in IMAX only heightens anticipation for the film. Superhero blockbusters like this one ought to be watched on a massive cinema screen. If you’re interested in seeing Black Adam in IMAX, you can get your tickets right now. Time is of the essence if you want to catch DC’s latest anti-hero in the larger-than-life IMAX format since the film will only be playing in the theatres for a limited run. Black Adam, the anti-hero who will smash into theatres on October 21, will shake up the DCEU’s established order.
