According to Variety, Jennifer Ehle has joined the cast of the Yellowstone spinoff in 1923. Sister Mary O’Connor, an Irish nun and teacher at Montana’s School for American Indians, is the character she will play. In addition to Aminah Reeves’ Teonna Rainwater, a young Native American lady and Sebastian Roche’s Father Renaud, who were both previously confirmed, the cast now includes Ehle.
Harrison Ford, Helen Mirren, Darren Mann, Brandon Sklenar, James Badge Dale, Michelle Randolph, Brian Geraghty, Marley Shelton, Julia Schlaepfer, Aminah Nieves, and Jerome Flynn all make appearances as well. Although Ehle has been in films like Fifty Shades of Grey and Saint Maud, she is perhaps best known for her role as Elizabeth Bennett in the 1995 miniseries Pride and Prejudice. She has won two Tonys, for her work in Tom Stoppard’s The Real Thing and The Coast of Utopia. Ehle’s newest TV role is in 1923, and she’ll also be in the upcoming Amazon series Dead Ringers. The novel 1923 serves as a prologue to Yellowstone and “introduces a new generation of the Dutton family while exploring the early 20th century, a time when pandemics, unprecedented drought, the end of Prohibition, and the Great Depression all plague the mountain west and the Duttons who call it home.”
Taylor Sheridan, whose previous work includes the Western dramas Yellowstone, 1883, Mayor of Kingston, and The Last Cowboy, is the show’s creator and executive producer for MTV Entertainment Studio. The fictitious Dutton family’s narrative begins in Yellowstone, and it follows the Dutton family as they move to a property named Yellowstone Dutton Ranch, which is located near the Broken Rock Indian Reservation. In Yellowstone, we see how difficult it is for patriarch John Dutton and his family to keep their ranch from the constant threats of land grabs.
Presently shooting in Montana, 1923 will premiere on Paramount+ in the winter. There has been no word on when exactly 1923 will premiere, and it’s also not known if it will be a one-off event or a recurring series. Currently, all four seasons of Yellowstone may be seen on Paramount+. New episodes of Yellowstone Season 5 will begin airing on November 13.
