According to an exclusive story from Deadline, Paul Bettany (Wandavision) has joined the cast of Here, filmmaker Robert Zemeckis’ latest project for Miramax. The picture, which will be distributed by Sony Pictures, will premiere in theatres on a date that has not yet been specified. Bettany joins Tom Hanks (Saving Private Ryan) and Robin Wright (House of Cards), who was also named as part of the cast. Not much more is known about Bettany’s part, but when filming gets underway, we can probably expect to learn more. The movie will be based on the revolutionary graphic novel by Richard McGuire of the same name.
Although few details about the film adaptation have been made public, the logline for Here, as reported by Deadline, reads as follows: “The groundbreaking film is centred around a single geographic location in New England — beginning as wilderness and later becoming the site of a home – where a story of love, loss, struggle, hope, and legacy play out between couples and families over generations.” In addition to Eric Roth’s script, Zemeckis is attached to helm the picture. Before Forrest Gump, which also starred Hanks and Penn, the two worked together on the picture Cast Away.
Bill Block of Miramax, which owns the worldwide distribution rights to the film, will serve as executive producer with Zemeckis and Jack Rapke of ImageMovers. Here have the makings of a visually fascinating film, thanks to its intriguing idea and the reunion of the cast and crew of a highly praised film, in addition to Bettany’s participation. Bettany received a Primetime Emmy nomination for his portrayal in Wandavision, but he is most known by fans for his role as Vision in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The actor has also appeared in projects outside of the MCU, including the BBC period drama series A Very British Scandal. Bettany will also soon be seen in Harvest Moon, a drama to be released by Miramax, in which she will also star in. In addition, he is in talks to play Andy Warhol in the forthcoming biopic The Collaboration, which centres on Warhol’s friendship with artist Jean-Michel Basquiat (Jeremy Pope).
There is currently no scheduled release date for Here due to the film’s development status.
