With the announcement that Clerks III would be released in 4K UHD in a beautiful steelbook, Kevin Smith has accomplished a first in his career. On December 6, Smith tweeted that the release will be available only at Best Buy in time for the holidays. The director promises that the release will be stacked with extra materials that die-hard fans of the series will find fascinating. There’s no missing a beat with this innovative steelbook featuring everyone’s favourite characters in vibrant hues of purple, yellow, blue, and orange. Jay, holding the screenplay, and Silent Bob (Smith) with the cameras rolling is shown on the front cover (Jason Mewes).
Behind them, Dante (Brian O’Halloran) and Randal (Jeff Andersonlikenesses )’s are emblazoned on the Quick Stop’s gate, indicating that the business is closed for the day. Sliding the cover away reveals the shop’s inside, where Dante, Randal, and Becky (Rosario Dawson) are, along with a number of references and Easter eggs. The concept was a clever method to unite the various aspects of the Clerks universe without losing focus on the show’s protagonists. Audiences returned to the New Jersey convenience store where the magic began over three decades ago in Clerks III, which continued the tale begun in 1994’s Clerks and 2006’s Clerks 2.
Randal’s recent heart attack has put him on a mission to guarantee the Quick Stop’s history lives on even as time and ageing begin to catch up with the beloved characters. Randal decides now is the moment to film the many anecdotes that have filled the shop over the years, and enlists the aid of his friends and coworkers, Dante, Elias (Trevor Fehrman), Jay, and Silent Bob. Smith’s View Askewniverse: The Final Chapter will be released in 4K Ultra High Definition with special features, as previously announced. It appears like we’ll get two documentaries, a teaser, and a unique audio commentary to enjoy.
