During the last season, The Flash will face up against a modernised version of a familiar foe. Deadline reports that Richard Harmon will play the new Captain Boomerang on the programme. Harmon is cast as Owen Mercer, the antagonist. Brad Meltzer and Rags Morales invented Mercer for DC Comics, and the character made his debut in Identity Crisis #3. Season 9 of The Flash depicts him as having a chip on his shoulder after being just freed from jail. John Murphy, a character he plays on The 100 of The CW, has brought Harmon widespread recognition.
Previous works of his include Scott Speer’s 2018 film I Still See You and his own 2013 film Evangeline (directed by Karen Lam). Previously, Digger Harkness wore the Captain Boomerang costume in the Arrowverse (Nick E. Tarabay). In the third season’s “The Brave and the Bold,” The Flash teamed up with Oliver Queen/The Arrow (Stephen Amell) to defeat the antagonist. In the fifth season’s “Lian Yu” episode, Harkness met his end. In The Flash, Captain Boomerang isn’t the only villainous persona that has been adopted by more than one antagonist. Throughout the show, Barry has faced off against Liam McIntyre’s Weather Wizard/Mark Mardon on several occasions.
The Weather Witch is Joss Jackam (Reina Hardesty), Mardon’s daughter who is introduced in Season 5. The Royal Flush Gang are the bad guys that Barry has to face in the premiere of Season 8 of The Flash. Though, this isn’t the same gang Oliver Queen/The Arrow met in the pilot. In August, it was reported that the forthcoming ninth season of The Flash will be the show’s last. “The ninth year! In a nine-year run of saving Central City and putting viewers on an emotional roller coaster full of passion, comedy, and spectacular action, “executive producer Eric Wallace has already announced that the show will be ending. This is it: Barry Allen’s final race has arrived at the starting line.
The Flash’s last season also marks the conclusion of the whole Arrowverse brand, which debuted in 2012 with the show Arrow. Sadly, both Batwoman and Legends of Tomorrow were axed in April. It was also revealed that Superman & Lois took place in a reality other than the Arrowverse. As of January, it was said that David Ramsey, who plays John Diggle on Arrow, will be getting his own show. The series may instead take place in the Superman & Lois reality, where Ramsey plays another version of Diggle.
