It’s quite evident from Chapter 1061 of One Piece that this is going to be a Vegapunk arc. Straw Hats and Jewelry Bonney arrived on a frozen island in the last episode. From what we’ve seen so far in this chapter, it appears that Vegapunk may really make an appearance. The crew loses track of Luffy and a few others
To begin One Piece Chapter 1061, Luffy abandons the ship in an effort to save Chopper and Bonney. The final two were carried away by the unknown island’s elemental currents. Simultaneously, a massive mecha shark appears out of nowhere and assaults the Thousand Sunny. Before jumping into the ocean, Jinbe orders Franky to assume control of the ship. Meanwhile, the Thousand Sunny is obliterated in an explosion caused by the shark’s barrage of missiles. Everybody gets thrown into the freezing sea when the ship goes down. In Chapter 1061 of One Piece, Jinbe finally joins up with Luffy and the rest of the crew. But first, they have to take a deep dive; the shark is loading its weapon. Strange mecha soldier beats the shark as the rest of the Straw Hats are trapped underwater.
SWORD is getting ready to act
In Chapter 1061 of One Piece, the action moves to the G-14 Naval Base, located on a neighbouring island. In Punk Hazard, Tashigi is seen caring for the huge kids. It’s possible that some readers may recall their participation in Caesar Clown’s immoral experiments. Regardless, she voiced concern over Koby’s abduction. New members of the shadowy SWORD group are presented in this chapter. Prince Grus is seen pleading with Helmeppo and Hibari to allow them to pursue the Blackbeard Pirates on Beehive Island. Since the naval facility is so close to Egghead, Helmeppo requested help from the Seraphim project. In Chapter 1061 of One Piece, the Straw Hats have made winter island their base of operations. Given that X-Drake has yet to be located, Prince Grus is understandably hesitant.

While everyone is busy drying off, Bonney reintroduces herself to Luffy and recalls their initial meeting two years ago on the Sabaody Archipelago. She points out that contrary to what his reward poster portrays, Luffy’s hair is not white. Finally, the Straw Hat captain makes a passing remark about how great it is to be in Gear Fifth form because of how much more independence it gives him. Bonney then points out that there isn’t going to be a lot of food on Egghead, the Island of the Future, as it is also called. Since Vegapunk is employed there, it must have some sort of connection to the World Government.
Reportedly, Vegapunk Appearance
At the end of Chapter 1061, One Piece switches its focus to the remaining Straw Hats. It turns out that the massive mecha soldier from before has come to their rescue; it is strong enough to pick up the Thousand Sunny by itself. From the cockpit emerges a mystery woman, who expresses frustration at the slow adoption of her latest innovations. The Straw Hats were quite appreciative of her help. But she makes it clear that she is their adversary since she serves the World Government. The woman turns out to be none other than Dr Vegapunk. After reading One Piece Chapter 1061, we’ll know if that’s fully accurate.
The long-awaited debut of Dr Vegapunk was revealed in One Piece Chapter 1061 spoilers, which were published on Tuesday of this week. Fans everywhere are overjoyed by the introduction of the mysterious leader of the Special Science Group. Fans have no idea who they are aligned with or what their goals are at the moment other than the World Government and the Marines. Spoilers for One Piece Chapter 1061 suggest, however, that we may have learned who they really support thanks to a little nuance. Vegapunk’s island and the SWORD base nearby are highlighted in Chapter 1061 of One Piece, implying that she is on the side of the heroes.
Spoilers for Chapter 1061 of One Piece began by stating that the Straw Hats had landed on Egg Head Island, Vegapunk’s “island of the future.” Spoilers then underlined the adjacent Marine base, stating that it is occupied by “the offspring of Punk Hazard, Tashigi, and certain members of SWORD,” among them Helmeppo. Some fans speculate that this is suggestive of Vegapunk’s true allegiances, despite the fact that it appears to be a subtle insertion telling nothing beyond its face value. The decision to highlight that the Marine base near Vegapunk’s house is full of SWORD members and individuals the Straw Hats had previously allied with is interesting, even if such a location would be anticipated.
Fans only know of a few of SWORD members as of this writing, and some take this as a signal from Oda that Vegapunk may be affiliated with the group.
There are presently three verified members: Helmeppo, Coby, and X Drake. Based on fan knowledge, X Drake appears to be the group’s leader. It’s not a sure sign that she’ll join the Straw Hats or support their objectives and principles, but it’s better than the response most Marines get. Also, this would clarify why Vegapunk agreed to Kuma’s final human request to watch over the Straw Hats’ ship, the Thousand Sunny until the heroes returned from their time-travelling antics. Despite Kuma’s mechanical body’s disrepair from a lack of upkeep and careful storage, Vegapunk granted a request that effectively destroyed her finest invention (at the time).
Helmeppo’s willingness to borrow her Seraphim Pacifista to rescue Koby is another big indication from the chapter that may substantiate Vegapunk’s membership in SWORD. A distinguished Marine like Helmeppo is unlikely to have the authority to request the group’s most cutting-edge weaponry. That would indicate that his question comes from a place of camaraderie, either between the two of them or between Vegapunk and Koby. Some SWORD members are clearly close with Vegapunk in any scenario, to the point of asking for favours that their superiors would not approve of. As One Piece Chapter 1061 has not yet been officially released, all of this is conjecture. Fans won’t know for sure what Vegapunk wants or who she’s on the team with until she explains it in subsequent issues.
