Filming for the second season of the critically acclaimed Prime Video criminal thriller Reacher will begin this month, and the service has already announced who will co-star with Alan Ritchson. With today’s announcement, the cast of Jack Reacher’s latest book adaptation has been bolstered with more of Reacher’s old army buddies and new baddies to square off against. Shaun Sipos had previously been confirmed to join the series as Jack Reacher’s close friend David O’Donnell, and Maria Sten would return to her role as Frances Neagley. Guests Domenick Lombardozzi and Rory Cochrane will join series regulars Serinda Swan and Ferdinand Kingsley next season. Swan will add her fighting and investigating talents to the team as Karla Dixon, a buddy of Reacher’s from his Elite 110th Special Investigators Unit.
Shane Langston, head of security for a private defence contractor, is played by Cochran, a crooked former NYPD detective transformed into a private defence contractor, and A.M., played by Kingsley, is a so-called “ghost” by Homeland Security who is solely devoted to money. Last but not least, Lombardozzi appears as Guy Russo, a modern NYPD detective working a case involving Reacher’s former army comrades. Luke Bilyk, Dean McKenzie, Edsson Morales, Andres Collantes, Shannon Kook-Chun, Ty Victor Olsson, Josh Blacker, and Al Sapienza form the rest of the regular cast. Saropian, the hitman entrusted with tracking down Reacher’s previous squad, will be portrayed by Olsson, while Blacker will play Lt. Col. Hortense Fields, the commander of the Elite 110th, and Sapienza will play Lieutenant Marsh, yet another member of the New York Police Department. With their performances, Bilyk as Calvin Franz, McKenzie as Stan Lowery, Morales as Manuel Orozco, Collantes as Jorge Sanchez, and Kook-Chun as Tony Swan round out Reacher’s former team.
Season 2 of Reacher will adapt the eleventh novel in Lee Child’s Jack Reacher series, 2007’s Bad Luck and Trouble, rather than the first book, Killing Floor, as in Season 1. The casting hints that the story will centre on Reacher’s previous squad, the Elite 110th Special Investigators Unit, as members of the team mysteriously begin to die off. Reacher, as he often does, seeks vengeance. The show was renewed just three days after its premiere, so fans have high hopes for Season 2.
Reacher’s worldwide appeal helped propel it into the top five most-watched series on Prime Video in both the United States and throughout the world. Besides Child, Don Granger, Scott Sullivan, Adam Higgs, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Bill Bost for Skydance, Emmy-nominated writer Nick Santora will return for Season 2 as showrunner and executive producer. Producing the show were Amazon Studios, Skydance TV, and Paramount TV.
Production on Reacher Season 2 will begin this month.
