Prime Video announced today that production on season two of Reacher, based on Lee Child’s bestselling Jack Reacher novels, will begin in late September. After only three days of being available on Prime Video, the second season was ordered for the show that premiered in February. Based on Child’s debut novel Killing Floor, Season 1 featured Reacher (Alan Ritchson) being jailed for murder, which led him into a rabbit hole of corruption and conspiracy that saw him uncover filthy transactions involving the police, businesses, and politicians. Instead of taking up the second novel in the series, the second season will be based on the eleventh book.
Bad fortune and difficulties. Both seasons will follow Reacher as he investigates the deaths of his former military unit’s members, while Season 2 will focus more on retribution. Season one was a huge hit on Prime Video, with viewers in the United States and across the world tuning in for episodes in record numbers. Many viewers binge-watched all eight episodes of Reacher Season 1 within the first 24 hours after its debut, making it one of the most watched original series in Prime Video history. New cast members have been announced alongside the commencement of production on season two of the programme. Reacher Season 2’s regular cast includes Serinda Swan, Ferdinand Kingsley, Rory Cochrane, and Domenick Lombardozzi.
The cast also includes Shannon Kook-Chun, Ty Victor Olsson, Josh Blacker, Al Sapienza, Edsson Morales, and Andres Collantes. In addition to series star Alan Ritchson and previously announced cast members Maria Sten as Frances Neagley and Shaun Sipos as David O’Donnell, these actors will join the show as regulars. O’Donnell served with Reacher in the 110th, the Army’s unit of Special Investigators, and is described as “like a brother to Reacher.” Nick Santora, who has been nominated for an Emmy, is the showrunner of Reacher and also a writer and executive producer of the programme, with the show’s creator, Lee Child.
Amazon Studios, Skydance Television, and Paramount Television Studios collaborated on the action-thriller series. The series is executive produced by Santora, Child, Don Granger, Scott Sullivan, Adam Higgs, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Bill Bost of Skydance, among others. Production on Season 2 of Reacher will begin later this month, with a premiere date in 2023.
