Third Season Trailer for ‘Step Up,’ Cast, Release Date, Synopsis & More

In the new season of Step Up, high school is back in session for the pupils of High Water. The third season of the Ne-Yo-fronted series is finally set to premiere on Starz’s streaming service on October 16. This comes three years after the conclusion of the second season. The show was conceived as a spin-off of Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan’s massively successful Step Up series, and it follows the lives of students at the elite High Water School for the Performing Arts as they deal with corruption, romance, and rivalry. The preview for the next season features Sage Odom, played by Ne-Yo, taking centre stage when High Water founder Ne-Yo is in trouble with the law for the murder of Ernest Octavio (R. Marcos Taylor), just as he’s on the verge of bankruptcy.

Sage’s significant other Collette Jones makes desperate attempts to contain the damage as his life unravels and threatens to wreck their tour. After Naya Rivera’s untimely passing in 2020, this teaser is the first time fans have seen Christina Milian continue the role of Collette. While Sage’s disaster is likely to be at the centre of the season’s drama, early glimpses show that Collette will become more of a focal point as she transitions from being the hidden power behind the business to its outspoken leader.

To make up for the $20 million she lost on Sage’s tour, she pulls one of her many daring stunts and gives Rigo Octavio (Terrence Green) the chance of a lifetime to perform in Sage’s stead. At the trailer’s tense climax, Collette says, “all we’ve worked for is about to go up in flames.” Meanwhile, at High Water, passions flare as temptations abound, putting the pupils’ allegiance to the test. Both Tatum and Dewan, who appeared in the first Step Up picture, are returning to the series as executive producers, so it should be an exciting new season.

The film’s producers, Holly Sorensen, Adam Shankman, and Jennifer Gibgot, are there as well. Green, who plays Rigo, is joined by Kendra Willis, who plays Poppy Martinez, Keiynan Lonsdale, who plays Tal Baker, Carlito Olivero, who plays Davis Jimenez, and Jade Chynoweth, who plays Odalie Allen, for a rhythmic comeback. Rebbi Rosie, a new dancer who has worked with BeyoncĂ©, stands out as Angel, a mysterious new member of the crew. In case you missed it, Starz’s third season premiere of Step Up will air on October 16.
