Disney and Pixar are planning to let people feel feelings again in 2024. The official release date for Inside Out 2 has been determined, after the announcement last week. The movie’s production status was originally made public during the D23 Expo. On June 14, 2024, audiences may see the follow-up to the studio’s 2015 smash blockbuster. The first film, Inside Out, premiered in June 2015 and rapidly became a favourite among viewers of various ages and genres. The film follows Riley (Kaitlyn Dias), a little girl of 11 years old whose comfortable existence in Minnesota is disrupted when her father takes a job in California.
Riley’s feelings of happiness, fear, anger, sadness, and disgust operate out of a command centre in her mind as she readjusts to her new environment. But when Riley starts having trouble, things go crazy in the headquarters, and Joy and Sadness are dispatched on a rescue mission inside Riley’s mind. A post-film short named Riley’s First Date? was created from the feature. The movie was well-liked by audiences around for its realistic portrayal of human emotions and the struggles we face while trying to make sense of them.
It was nominated for several awards & won several, including Best Animated Feature at the Academy Awards and Best Original Screenplay at the Golden Globes. The Golden Globes and the British Academy Film Awards both gave it the prize for the best-animated movie. Pete Docter, Meg LeFauve, and Josh Cooley authored the film’s screenplay, and Docter and Ronnie Del Carmen served as directors. Dias, Amy Poehler as Joy, Phyllis Smith as Sadness, Mindy Kaling as Disgust, Bill Hader as Fear, Lewis Black as Anger, Richard Kind as Bing Bong, Diane Lane as Riley’s mom, and Kyle MacLachlan as Riley’s dad are just a few of the voice actors that lend their talents to the film.
Even while we don’t know much about the plot of Inside Out 2, we did learn during D23 that some brand-new feelings will be introduced. LeFauve has also signed on to write the script, and Kelsey Mann has been tapped to helm the film. The current plan calls for Poehler to return for the sequel, with Kaling and Hader leaving their roles. Nobody knows yet if the rest of the actors will come back, or if Disgust and Fear will be recast. On June 14th, 2024, the sequel to “Inside Out” will be released.
