Synopsis of the 11th Episode of Season 4 of Overlord
Upon learning of the defeat of the Re-Estize Kingdom, King Ramposa III opens this episode. Not only have they lost touch with their men, but Prince Zanac himself has mysteriously disappeared. In an effort to save some of his followers, King Ramposa III issues an order for his staff to abandon the castle. Instead of joining his people in their flight, King Ramposa III plans to stay and accept the Sorcerer King as the kingdom’s last ruler. Cocco Doll, meantime, is griping about his living circumstances at Hilma Cygnaeus’s place. He feels abandoned because the rest of the Eight Fingers are all in another room. However, Hilma and the rest of the party manage to convince him to stay and see the Sorcerer Kingdom’s envoy. Cocco Doll doesn’t understand why everyone is so nice to him. Even though he had lost everything, including his power and contacts, they still came to his rescue. He probes Hilma and the others for the inspiration for their hospitality. Hilma only replies that they are allies who look out for one another.
Cocco Doll remarks that Hilma and the others have evolved after hearing their replies. As a matter of fact, he just doesn’t believe it. Their diets seemed to have started at the same time, given their actions and the timing of their decisions. Shalltear shows up out of the blue and announces that she has made the long journey to the mansion in order to save everyone from the Sorcerer Kingdom’s destruction of the royal capital. Aside from that, she ordered everyone to meet simultaneously. With a Gate spell, Shalltear gathered everyone in front of Nazarick. Knowing that Cocco Doll was an ex-employee of Eight Fingers, Shalltear hauled him out of the building by his ear. Hilma and the others let out a sigh of disappointment as they realise they cannot rescue Cocco Doll from the hands of Kyohukou, the Area Guardian of the Black Capsule on Nazarick’s second level. While Hilma and the rest of the dolls are sad for Cocco Doll, they are certain that after spending some time in Kyohukous’ chamber, Cocco Doll would finally appreciate Ainz Ooal Gown for all that it is. In the morning, Cocytus’s army departed for another assault on Re-Estize. Ainz started using spells like Delay Teleportation, Body of Effulgent Beryl, Life Essence, and Mana Essence on himself before the conflict.
Albedo puts on her Hermes Trismegistus armour as she and Hermes prepare to defend themselves against Red Drop’s Azuth Aindra. True enough, Azuth materialises overhead, grinning in his crimson power suit. Before going into battle, Ainz warns Albedo not to murder Azuth. After witnessing Azuth’s skill in E-Naeurl, Ainz now wants to learn more about the planet. It all kicks off when Azuth sends a bolt of lightning hurtling at Ainz’s legion of Death Knights and Death Warriors. Azuth quickly defeated Ainz’s army. The flame that followed Azuth’s onslaught was no match for Ainz and Albedo. Imagine how quickly Albedo could travel if she were riding a War Bicorn, and she would begin chasing Azuth through the sky. As most people probably aren’t aware, Albedo is too good to ever even touch a War Bicorn, hence she can’t ride one. But Albedo feels Azuth is naive if she thinks she can’t figure out his scheme. To set up an ambush on Albedo, Azuth will lure her far enough away from her allies. Without any sort of magical assistance, Azuth suddenly stops in midair and fires a ballistic assault toward Albedo. Even as Azuth casts spells, Albedo studies his every move to determine the best course of action. No damage was done to Albedo by either strike.
Albedo began her counterattack by crashing into Azuth’s red-powered armour. She was taken aback when she discovered that Azuth was about as sturdy as a block of tofu. As a result of all their efforts, Albedo is disappointed to see that their opponent is immature and lacks strength. She then begins criticising Azuth for his treatment of Ainz. In response, Azuth informed Albedo that they were the real monsters since they massacred civilians and levelled entire towns. However, Ainz is waiting for Albedo’s return. Ainz cast Explode Mine at the platinum-clad warrior who suddenly materialised behind him. It turned out to be the Platinum Dragon Lord, Tsaindorcus Vaision, or Riku Aganeia. Ainz scanned his opponent with his Life Essence spell. He found out that his opponent had a lot of health left but was out of mana. Ainz thinks his foe is just a regular fighter, thus he dismisses the threat posed by their physical encounters.
The Platinum Dragon Lord surprised Ainz by expending some of its HP to initiate the World Isolating Barrier. Ainz, though, reintroduced himself and asked his antagonist what his name was. Then, Ainz recalls a time when one of the 13 heroes wore a suit of golden armour and it brought back good memories. A hero by the name of Riku Aganeia, if he’s remembered correctly. Ainz, instead of battling, recruited Riku to fight for his flag. Ainz has offered to put a stop to the Kingdom’s assault if Riku will accept his aid. However, Riku completely disregarded Ainz’s offer. Ainz is worried about how much HP Riku lost when he used the Cloak of Light. He attempted to perform Greater Teleportation, but the barrier Riku had created prevented him from doing so. Ainz realises that there is no way for him to cross the barrier, which he believes includes real items. As Riku sprung up behind him, Ainz cast his Body of Effulgent Beryl magic once more. After using Knock Back, Ainz warned Riku that he would never again be able to harm him physically. Riku’s sole retort to Ainz is that the latter is doomed to die behind the shield. Ainz’s anger at this causes him to use his Twin Magic: Obsidian Swords spell, which Riku successfully blocks.
Ainz used a variety of spells—from Wall of Skeleton to Blasting Staff to Grasp Heart—but they were all countered by Riku’s defences. As their battle between Ainz and Riku proceeds, the latter is beginning to gain ground. From what Ainz can tell, someone else is operating the armour in front of him. Summoning the Doom Lord, Ainz cast his Summon Undead Tenth spell against Riku. As the Doom Lord fights Riku, Ainz takes stock of his circumstances. Riku, Ainz’s tank character who specialises in close combat, has reached level 90. Aside from Riku’s HP, he notices that Riku’s weapons appear to be integrated into his body. Ainz’s information against Riku was greatly aided by the Doom Lord. Ainz adds insult to injury by calling forth the Elemental Skull, a form of the undead. Ainz says that the Elemental Skull can employ four different types of magic and that Riku has no way to counter them. Before Ainz could use the Elemental Skull’s abilities, however, Riku struck.
Ainz, taken aback, suddenly knelt before Riku and bowed deeply.
He made an effort to convince Riku by explaining his reasoning for doing what he did in the Re-Estize Kingdom. But Riku has made up his mind to kill Ainz for good. The timely arrival of Albedo saves Ainz from his precarious situation. Ainz had already extended an invitation to deflect and serve under his banner to Riku before he departed. However, Riku ran to where Azuth was hiding. They discussed their respective battles against Albedo and Ainz.
In contrast to Albedo, Riku says, Ainz was unable to penetrate the barrier. The barrier can be broken through only by primordial magic or world-level artefacts. So, he concluded that Albedo is the player character and Ainz is an NPC. Azuth reveals that Riku is a powerful dragon lord right before the episode finishes. Based on their past battle, Riku thinks he can beat Ainz in a one-on-one bout as well. Azuth and Riku’s opponent wasn’t Ainz, unfortunately. The actress playing Pandora ultimately advocated for Ainz. Finally, Ainz asks Pandora’s actor to share what he knows about Riku Aganeia with him.
