There’s a new teaser for Grimcutty, Hulu’s next “modern monster feature” horror thriller. Released on the streaming site on October 10, 2022, only a few weeks before Halloween, the film will have its world debut. In Grimcutty, the titular monster is an actualized online meme that stalks its prey and inspires its victims to take violent action against themselves and others. The teaser shows the creature’s destructive potential when a small child uses a kitchen knife to attack his mother. The Grimcutty’s actions generate widespread fear in the community, with many parents attributing the tragedy to a sick internet challenge featuring a picture of a tall, hunched-over creature with a disfigured white face, red eyes, and long black hair.
Film protagonist Asha Chaudry (Sara Wolfkind) is next in line to fall prey to the monster, and she is stalked around her home by it until it vanishes. Her parents, however, are unable to see the thing. The teaser builds suspense as Asha’s parents become angrier and angrier as they learn more about the monster; at one point, Asha confronts her father while he holds a syringe and a knife behind her back. Multiple views of youngsters who can see the Grimcutty in mid-air, seemingly being compelled to turn a knife on themselves, are seen in the video.
The Grimcutty seizes Asha at the end of the trailer and holds a butcher knife to her face. Grimcutty was created by John William Ross and developed by 20th Digital Studio. The project is executive produced by David Worthen Brooks, Arbi Pedrossian, and Jenna Cavelle. Through their firm Capture, Dawn Fanning Moore and David Moore took on the role of producers. Usman Ally (VEEP, A Series of Unfortunate Events), Shannyn Sossamon (Wayward Pines, Sleepy Hollow), Callan Farris (Gabby Duran & the Unsittables), Alona Tal (SEAL Team), and Kayden Koshalev (Wolfkind) also feature in the film (Search Party, The Tragedy of Macbeth).
