Camille Hyde, who starred in Katy Keene, and Ben Edlin, who starred in Chicago Med, will be starring in the psychological thriller Mindwash. Beatrice Brigitte, a Gotham actor, makes her directorial debut with this film. She also wrote and directed, and produced it.
In Mindwash, played by Edlin, a motivational speaker named Billy Seldom is on the verge of becoming a worldwide phenomenon until a disaster befalls the planet. According to Variety, the speaker, who is famous for the motto “Think for Yourself,” descends into self-destruction as his reliant relationship with his fiancĂ©e Natalie (Hyde) begins to deteriorate.
“Billy strives to find his position in a world now spiralling out of control and exemplifying the absence of individual thought,” the logline for the thriller states. Right now he has to question himself if he actually does “think for himself.” Accompanying the debut trailer for Mindwash is a clip of Edlin playing the passionate motivational speaker, speaking directly to the camera in what seems like a dark and empty auditorium. He directly confronts the room and challenges the listeners to think back on the last time they did some truly original thinking. In addition to Edlin and Hyde, Mindwash also stars Samantha Walker (American Zombieland), John Van Ness, and Brigitte (who doubles as Chloe).
Other names including Freya Saxon, Nicole Berndt, and Franco Valobra are attached to the credits as well. Brigitte, Nichole Galicia (Django Unchained), and Kazy Tauginas are all involved in the production of Mindwash (The Equalizer 2). Director of photography Orlando Briones (Bully) and composer Wynne Bennett (Space Jam: A New Legacy) both contributed to the film. Charles and Isabella Reimer are the executive producers. Brigitte remarked, “From beginning to end, the entire process of developing Mindwash has been a fantastic experience. Everyone involved in making this video was essential to its success as a whole, and the finished product is something to be proud of. Hyde’s most well-known role was as Alexandra Cabot in Katy Keene, but she has also guest-starred on two episodes of Riverdale as Betty Cooper.
The actress has also just made an appearance in the upcoming CW spinoff series All American: Homecoming, in which she reprises the character of Thea Mays from the original series. She has been on such series as The Good Doctor and Immoral Compass and in films like The Wedding Year and Betch and Heathers. Edlin has recently been seen on L.A.’s Finest in two episodes. Both the forthcoming film Circle, in which he plays Alan, and the TV series Department of One, on which he has a role that is now in post-production, include him as actor.
