In the spirit of Halloween, everyone could use a little scary entertainment. Just in time for Halloween, Netflix has released a trailer for The Curse of Bridge Hollow, a horror comedy starring Marlon Wayans (White Chicks) and Priah Ferguson (Stranger Things), perfect for the whole family. The film, directed by Jeff Wadlow and set to premiere on October 14, follows a father and daughter as they band together to combat wicked Halloween decorations. The teaser depicts Wayans as a science teacher who is sceptical about Halloween celebrations in general.
But everything changed when Sydney, his daughter, unwittingly called upon otherworldly beings, and they took possession of the town’s Halloween decorations and began causing mayhem. Both the dad and the teen have to do everything it takes to safeguard their loved ones at this point. Like the 2015 horror-comedy Goosebumps, in which the harmful creatures from the novel come to life, the forthcoming film will combine traditional Halloween motifs to tell the story of an inanimate creature that begins to terrorise the residents of a certain town. In addition to a plethora of horror thrillers, Netflix has also released a number of original horror comedies, such as Bird Box, Gerald’s Game, Cargo, and Fear Street. The Curse of Bridge Hollow is a lighter take on the horror genre that follows in the footsteps of films like “Day Shift” and “The Babysitter.”
In addition to Wayans and Ferguson, the film also features a number of other notable comedic actors: Rob Riggle (Let’s Be Cops), John Michael Higgins (Saved by the Bell), Nia Vardalos (My Big Fat Greek Wedding), Lauren Lapkus (The Wrong Missy), Holly J. Barrett (Life in Pieces), and Helen Slayton-Hughes (Parks and Recreation). Kelly Rowland, formerly of Destiny’s Child, also stars in the movie. Todd Berger and Robert Rugan wrote The Curse of Bridge Hollow. On the other hand, the filmmaker is responsible for films like Kick-Ass 2 and Cry Wolf, as well as Truth or Dare and Fantasy Island.
Since he directed several episodes of the terrifying ‘Are You Afraid of the Dark?’ he also contributed to the creepy atmosphere of that night. Producers include Wayans, Rick Alvarez, and Nathan Reimann, with Wadlow in the executive producer role. No new information about the impending horror comedy has been teased as of yet. The Curse of Bridge Hollow, on the other hand, has a trailer that promises a night of scares and laughs, making it one of the comedic movies you would want to see after a scary one. It also has a magnificent and inventive plot. The movie isn’t out until October 14, though.
