An apparent writer for the fifth Avengers movie has been discovered. Deadline has claimed that Jeff Loveness, writer of “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania,” has been hired to pen “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty,” a film scheduled for release in 2025. The title suggests that the film will centre on Kang the Conqueror (Jonathan Majors), who was first introduced to the MCU in last year’s Loki, as Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and his Variant and new ally Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino) travel to the Citadel at the End of Time, where they will find “He Who Remains,” aka Kang, waiting for them.
Their presence there contributes to the temporal cracking, which in turn sets off chaos throughout universes. The next Ant-Man and the Wasp sequel, Quantumania, will also include Kang. An exclusive teaser unveiled at D23 showed that the villainous Kang awaits Scott Lang (Paul Rudd), his daughter Cassie (Kathryn Newton), Hope Van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly), and Hope’s parents Hank (Michael Douglas) and Janet (Michelle Pfeiffer) after they are sucked into the Quantum Realm. Both Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and Avengers: The Kang Dynasty will have Loveness as its writer, so it’s probable that there will be more ties between the two movies than just sharing the same cinematic world.
With Kang taking over the Time Variance Authority in Loki, he is building up to be a major antagonist (if not the major antagonist) of this new era of Marvel storytelling, and having the same writer across two such critical projects will offer an extra degree of continuity to the plot. Filming on Avengers: The Kang Dynasty has begun, and the release date is set for 2025. On the other hand, Loveness’s next project, Ant-man and the Wasp: Quantumania, will hit theatres on February 17, 2023. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is the next Marvel film to be released.
