An early trailer for Vertical Entertainment’s new game Sanctioning Evil has been released. The plot of the action/thriller is around a war hero who discovers that the United States government is willing to “eat you up and spit you out” regardless of how heroically he has served his country. Staff Sergeant Reginald Barnes (Tobias Truvillion) is dismissed dishonourably after four tours of duty due to a rogue soldier in his unit.
Just a month from now, on October 7, the new film will be available in theatres and on demand thanks to Vertical Entertainment. Even if Reginald’s military career ends badly, the trailer for Sanctioning Evil shows that he is more than willing to exact punishment in his own manner. After realising that he has nothing left to lose, he takes part in a secret FBI operation to track down and kill fugitives. Things aren’t going to end well. Reginald’s target audience is likely to feel the same anger as the protagonist because of the kind of offenders he pursues: those who prey on children.
However, Reginald’s merciless and unconventional techniques hint at a harsh environment where no one is blameless and the characters’ morality is grey. Ante Novakovic, who also helmed the mystery thriller Leaves of the Tree and the horror film Fright Fest, helms Sanctioning Evil. Novakovic’s political thriller Little Ukraine, about a family trying to make it in New York City after escaping the Soviet Union in the 1980s, was published earlier this year. Sanctioning Evil marks the debut of both writer and actor Kyle Travis Sharp. Sharp also authored the film’s screenplay.
The tale was adapted from an earlier work by Lance Sharp, who also makes his first appearance in this film. Truvillion is joined by an impressive ensemble that includes, among others, Taryn Manning (Orange Is the New Black), Zach McGowan (Shameless), Chris Tardio (Younger), Tasha Lawrence (The Looming Tower), Carrie Kim (Law & Order: SVU), James Biberi (Starz’s Hightown), Kresh Novakovic (Last Call), Betsy Beutler (The Most Popular Girls in School), Al Line (Law & Order: Organized Crime). On October 7th, Sanctioning Evil will be released in cinemas and on video on demand.
Synopsis
After four tours of service, decorated war hero Staff Sergeant Reginald Barnes (Tobias Truvillion) is dishonourably dismissed after a soldier under his command turns rogue. Barnes is now on his own to try to put his life back together after being disenfranchised by the nation he fought honourably for. However, he is reintegrated into society and given a new lease on life when he is recruited by the charming and ambitious politician Dakota Ambrose (Zach McGowan). While FBI agent Kensington follows their every move, Barnes and Ambrose must tread carefully between conducting clandestine military operations on civilian turf and taking unjustified revenge on an underground criminal organisation (Taryn Manning).
