Sylvester Stallone’s upcoming Paramount+ series, Tulsa King, has been getting a lot of attention, and if there’s one thing we’ve learned from the trailers and clips, it’s that his character doesn’t mess around. A new teaser, posted to the show’s Twitter account, further emphasises the show’s commitment to its serious tone. Stallone’s character, Dwight “The General” Manfredi, is sent to Tulsa by the mafia bosses back in the first episode. Manfredi learns that the family won’t be supporting him in his new enterprise, so the seasoned mobster forms his own squad before setting out.
The brief video shows The General, fresh out of prison after 25 years, making his way to Tulsa, Oklahoma. The film is full of the traditional action sequences you’d expect from a Stallone-led production, complete with well-choreographed combat scenes and quotable one-liners around every corner. We watch as the outsider tries to blend in, but eventually stands out due to his mannerisms, demeanour, and accent. Stallone will join an impressive cast when he finally makes his way to the streaming service on November 13.
The cast includes the likes of Martin Starr (Silicon Valley), Vincent Piazza (Boardwalk Empire), Andrea Savage (I’m Sorry), Domenick Lobardozzi (The Irishman), A.C. Peterson (Superman & Lois), Max Casella (The Tender Bar), Jay Will (The Marvelous Mrs Maisel), Garrett Hedlund ( (Body of Proof). It’s not only a star-studded cast of actors and actresses; the project also has some huge names behind it. Taylor Sheridan, co-creator of Yellowstone and Academy Award contender, has added Tulsa King to the slate of Paramount+ originals he has developed. The triple threat features multiple upcoming releases, including Lioness, 1883: The Bass Reeves Story, Land Man, and 1932, in addition to the Yellowstone prequels 1883 and Mayor of Kingstown, which have both already been released.
Terence Winter, who supported The Sopranos and The Wolf of Wall Street, will serve as showrunner and writer for the project. Stallone, Sheridan, and Winter will join the already impressive list of series contributors on the executive production team, which also includes David C. Glasser, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari, David Hutkin, Allen Coulter, and Braden Aftergood. The producers are MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios. Stallone’s Manfredi will soon be seen chopping heads off in Tulsa while starting a family, and this latest trailer brings us one step closer to that day.
