A new teaser for the forthcoming Netflix special Entergalactic, created by Scott “Kid Cudi” Mescudi and Kenya Barris, has been published, providing viewers with a longer look at the brilliantly animated narrative of a young artist navigating life and love in New York City. The new clips emphasise the romantic undertones of the programme, hinting at how the two central artists meet by chance and try to make a go of it together. In the preview, we meet Jabari (Mescudi) as he settles into his new New York City apartment, an industrial loft with few furnishings but lots of room and, most importantly, independence. After settling into his new life in the bustling metropolis, he decides to explore the romantic possibilities it presents and finds himself in a sticky predicament.
The neighbour he just moved in next to, Meadow (Jessica Williams), is a photographer and fellow artist, and the two quickly become close. He and the woman went on a date that ended with a passionate ride home on the back of his bike, and it was evident they had something special going on. However, his ex-return girlfriend’s and his rapidly developing artistic career put a kink in his plans. Jabari appears intent on making things between him and Meadow work, and his buddies give him sound counsel on how to accomplish it. The teaser for Entergalactic not only teases the romantic plot at the show’s heart but also showcases the magnificent, original animation style used throughout the programme. DNEG, whose animation was most recently seen in 2021’s Ron’s Gone Wrong, a film the company co-produced with Locksmith Animation, deserves the credit.
In Mescudi and Barris’s work, the almost artistic nature of the animation is paired with a vivid colour palette, resulting in breathtaking landscapes in which minute details stand out brilliantly. The Netflix original series Entergalactic was adapted by Ian Edelman and Maurice Williams into a one-hour special directed by Fletcher Moules. Timothée Chalamet, in his debut vocal part, joins a cast that also includes Ty Dolla $ign, Laura Harrier, Vanessa Hudgens, Christopher Abbott, 070 Shake, Jaden Smith, Keith David, Teyana Taylor, Arturo Castro, and Macaulay Culkin, in addition to Mescudi and Williams. Besides acting in the special, Mescudi will also showcase his musical abilities by composing an album to serve as the soundtrack. With the release of Entergalactic, Mescudi’s eighth studio album under the Kid Cudi moniker, he has maintained his status as a major player in the music business. The programme will be the next step in his rapidly expanding television career.
Recently he was seen in the highly praised horror thriller X directed by Ti West, and he will soon be seen in the action flick Silent Night directed by John Woo.
