Now that summer is over, students may return to the classroom. The second season of Abbott Elementary, featuring everyone’s favourite group of educators, will premiere next week. ABC has released the full season trailer after releasing a teaser last month.
In the first moments of the teaser, Ava (Janelle James) is shown formally welcoming her classmates back to school. The Season 2 teaser reveals that Janine (Quinta Brunson) is the most upbeat and enthusiastic of the group. After her breakup with Tariq, she has been able to put more emphasis on herself. In the meanwhile, Gregory (Tyler James Williams) must go through his own process of development.
Since last season, he has grown into his role as a teacher and is actively working to do better with his colleagues providing help where it is needed. The teaser also hints at a plethora of crazy antics that will be pulled by both faculty and students during the season. The teaser is full of one-liners and has a piece of enthusiastic music in the background, promising more of the same quirky humour and genuine emotion that have made the programme a hit with fans. The story takes place in Philadelphia in a disadvantaged elementary school called Abbott Elementary. The show is a parody of documentaries about educators trying to do their jobs well and provide their kids with the finest education possible. Season 2 will expand the universe beyond the confines of the school, which was the focus of Season 1.
In addition to what we see in the video, Season 2 will provide us with a deeper insight into the instructors’ lives outside of the classroom. In comparison to Season 1, Season 2 will have 22 episodes, roughly doubling the amount. Brunson is responsible for the creation, executive production, and writing of the series. Co-executive producers include Patrick Schumacker, Justin Halpern, and Randall Einhorn. Chris Perfetti plays Jacob, William Stanford Davis portrays Mr Johnson, and Sheryl Lee Ralph and Lisa Ann Walters play Barbara and Melissa, respectively. The comedy series Abbott Elementary premiered last year and rapidly won over audiences and critics alike.
Already a critically acclaimed series, it has won four Television Critics Association awards (TCAs), including Program of the Year. Six Emmy nominations were given to it, with Brunson breaking ground in three of them. The award for Outstanding Casting in a Comedy Series has already been brought home by the show. The remaining categories will be disclosed at the event on September 12. On September 21, 2018, Hulu will begin streaming Season 2 of Abbott Elementary. The 1st season is currently streaming on Hulu and HBO Go.
