The forthcoming pandemic thriller film Sick will have its world premiere at the Midnight Madness section of the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival. In the trailer for the new thriller, tension builds as best friends Parker (Gideon Adlon, Blockers) and Miri (Bethlehem Million, And Just Like That) answer the doorbell of their remote lake house. After Parker calls out to whoever is there, the doorbell changes to a pounding knock.
Parker grabs a knife from Miri’s kitchen and heads outdoors, only to find himself completely alone. While she is out, though, the tape ends suddenly as a stranger approaches Miri from behind. During the COVID-19 epidemic, Parker and Miri make the decision to confine themselves at a lake home. Even if everything appears to be normal on the outside, they soon discover that they are not alone, as shown in this exclusive footage. Adlon’s acting resume includes appearances in Blockers, The Craft: Legacy, and the Netflix animated series Pacific Rim: The Black, in which he provided his voice.
Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, as well as Johanna Block’s Who Am I? are two examples of upcoming works now in development. both of which are in the editing phase at the moment. Million has appeared in projects including Ariel Vida’s forthcoming feature, Trim Season, and on TV shows like Flatbush Misdemeanors. John Hyams (Alone) will helm Sick, based on a script he adapted with Kevin Williamson (Scream, I Know What You Did Last Summer) and Katelyn Crabb. Williamson, alongside Bill Block and Ben Fast, is one of the producers of the next suspense film. The film is being produced by Miramax. Starring with Adlon and Million are Marc Menchaca (The Outsider, Ozark) and Jane Adams (Twin Peaks, Poltergeist, Hacks).
A plethora of other films, including Rian Johnson’s Knives Out sequel Glass Onion, Steven Spielberg’s The Fabelmans, Weird: The Al Yankovic Story, starring Daniel Radcliffe as the eponymous parody musician, and Mel Eslyn’s debut feature Biosphere, will all have their world premieres at this year’s TIFF. At this year’s Toronto International Film Festival, the film Sick will have its international debut in the Midnight Madness section.
Synopsis
Parker and her closest friend Miri decide to quarantine at their family’s lake cottage, thinking they would be safe from the pandemic’s spread there.
