HBO’s launch of The White Lotus on July 11, 2021, was met with widespread critical praise and strong viewership numbers. The trailer for Season 2 of The White Lotus has been released on HBO’s official YouTube account. The video, filmed in the style of an advertisement, promotes The White Lotus’s loyalty programme, Petal and Blossom Circles. It opens with a sight of a luxury yacht called The White Lotus – Sicily out on the open sea. In a voiceover, Jennifer Coolidge’s character, Tanya McQuoid-Hunt, extols the virtues of The White Lotus, saying, “My stays at any of The White Lotus hotels have always been exceptional.
Always.” Over footage of hotel staff at work and scenic locations in Sicily, a voiceover announces, “Now taking reservations for October.” The image links to a webpage where interested parties may read more about the programme. The White Lotus, which was originally planned as a six-part limited series, received 20 Emmy nominations, one of which was for Outstanding Limited Series. One of The White Lotus resorts in Hawaii served as the setting for the first season, while The White Lotus resort in Sicily provided the backdrop for the second.
The show follows a group of holidaymakers as they spend their time in a tropical resort hotel. Dark facts about the guests, the too upbeat staff, and the hotel itself are gradually revealed. Beatrice Grann as Mia, Tom Hollander as Quentin, Sabrina Impacciatore as Valentina, Haley Lu Richardson as Portia, and Simona Tabasco as Lucia all return for Season 2. Aubrey Plaza and Will Sharpe play the Spillers, F. Murray Abraham, Adam DiMarco, and Michael Imperioli are Di Grasso family members, and Meghann Fahy and Theo James are the Babcocks.
Starring in recurring appearances is Jon Gries (returning to the part of Greg) and Leo Woodall. The show was developed, written, and directed by Mike White. The release date for the 2nd season of The White Lotus is set for sometime around October 2022. While we wait for 2nd Season to arrive, Episode 1 is available for free viewing on HBO’s website.
