The creator and actor of Catastrophe, Rob Delaney, has joined the cast of the upcoming sixth season of Netflix’s eerily realistic dystopian science-fiction anthology series Black Mirror. Delaney has been cast with Rory Culkin and Myha’la Herrold. Little is known at this time about the upcoming season of the hit programme, but if it’s anything like the previous ones, it will highlight how technology can ruin a civilization.
Produced by Charlie Brooker, Black Mirror made its debut on Channel 4 in the United Kingdom before shifting to the streaming service Netflix for its third season. According to reports, filming for Season 6 of Black Mirror has already begun. Season 4 is the first to be produced by Brooker and Annabel Jones at their Netflix-backed studio, Broke and Bones. Jones has been a part of the Black Mirror team since the pilot. To now, the rest of the forthcoming season’s cast consists of Zazie Beetz, Paapa Essiedu, Josh Hartnett, Aaron Paul, Kate Mara, Danny Ramirez, Clara Rugaard, Auden Thornton, and Anjana Vasan.
In the past, Beetz has stated that she taped her episode in June, even though the show’s production wasn’t announced until July. Delaney is well-known in the comedy world for his work on the Emmy and BAFTA-winning series Catastrophe, which he also helped create and appear in. Delaney portrays Rob Norris, an American visiting London who has an affair with Sharon Morris (Sharon Horgan) and becomes unexpectedly pregnant. Besides The Man Who Fell to Earth on Showtime, Delaney has been in the films Deadpool 2 and Bombshell, the animated features Tom and Jerry and The Good House, and the television series Tom and Jerry.
The comedian’s planned projects include the films The School for Good and Evil, Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning, Part One, and Argylle, as well as the television programmes The Power and Bad Monkey. The anthology series Black Mirror premiered in 2011, and since then it has gained a reputation as one of the finest television shows of the 2010s. The anthology show originally aired on HBO before moving to Netflix in 2016. In late 2018, an interactive film based on the series dubbed Bandersnatch debuted on the streaming service. Several Black Mirror spinoffs, including a cinematic version of Season 1’s “The Entire History of You” produced by Robert Downey Jr., have been stuck in development hell for quite some time.
Season 5 of Black Mirror included just three episodes and stars Miley Cyrus, Anthony Mackie, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, and Topher Grace. It has been said that Season 6 would have a more typical number of episodes compared to Season 5, although it is presently unknown how many episodes Season 6 will really have. Season 6 of Black Mirror will likely not premiere until late 2023 at the earliest.
