Colman Domingo won the Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series for his performance as Ali on Euphoria. On September 4th, during the Creative Arts Emmys, the winner was announced. Tom Pelphrey of Ozark was another contender with Domingo. The third season of HBO’s Succession also had a strong showing in the category, with nominations for Adrien Brody, James Cromwell, Arian Moayed, and Alexander Skarsgrd.
In addition to his role as Victor Strand on Euphoria, Domingo is a regular on AMC’s Fear the Walking Dead, where he has been since Season 1. Domingo is also a busy film actor, having won accolades for his roles in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and Zola, both of which were released in 2020. As early as 2021, the Hollywood Critics Association honoured him for his contributions to Euphoria.
Domingo portrays Ali Muhammed, a recovered addict who becomes Rue (Zendaya) at Narcotics Anonymous and sponsors her on her own journey to recovery, in the series Euphoria, about the kind of high school every parent wishes their child doesn’t wind up at. Given the positive response to his character, Season 3 has promise for further development. This past weekend, the Creative Arts Emmys were presented at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles over the course of two nights.
The event will be condensed into one show and shown on FXX on September 10 in advance of the Primetime Emmys on September 12.
