Lee You-mi, for her portrayal of Ji-Yeong in Squid Game, was named Outstanding Guest Actress in the Drama Series at the Creative Arts Emmys. On September 4th, the winners were announced. Lee was nominated alongside Martha Kelly (Euphoria) and Marcia Gay Harden (The Morning Show). Further, Succession cast members Hope Davis, Sanaa Lathan, and Harriet Walter were all nominated.
Walter, who appeared on Ted Lasso, has now been nominated for two awards tonight. The characters in the South Korean survival series Squid Game compete in a deadly game in which they play a variety of children’s games, such as Red Light, and Green Light, for a monetary prize. The show’s critique of social stratification and capitalism was a highlight.
As a result of Squid Game’s meteoric rise to popularity, Netflix promptly renewed the show for a second season.
