Daidou took control of the fight in Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 195, slicing Naoya savagely without resorting to any Cursed Techniques. His offensive prowess and skill with the sword left Maki wondering how Toji managed to excel while sharing her Heavenly Restriction. Miyo cast a straightforward domain and challenged Maki to a duel as the chapter came to a close. More details about Miyo’s humble sphere of influence are revealed in the raw scans for the next chapter, and a significant boost in strength for Maki is hinted at.
New Spoilers for Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 196
In the leaked chapter 196 of Jujutsu Kaisen, the editor included a note on the opening page outlining the ground conditions for Miyo Rokujushi’s Simple Domain. Within the bounds of his dominion, apparently even cursed energy made for the express goal of sumo is rendered useless. Like in a sumo-wrestling bout, this Simple Domain requires the cooperation of both competitors in order to be completed. If Maki declines Miyo’s offer to wrestle, the barrier won’t be finished. When Noritoshi probes further, she replies that she’s just overthinking things and wants to let off steam. Spoilers reveal that Miyo is first taken aback by Maki’s violent tackle, but quickly gains the upper hand and slams her to the ground. He informs Maki that this performance isn’t one of her greatest and that he always knew she would defeat him in a frontal assault.
He inquires as to her preoccupation and offers to hear her out in the hopes that she would relax and give it her all. Unexpectedly, Maki accepts his offer and vents to him about everything that’s been upsetting her. The chapter’s wording suggests that Miyo sees Maki, who has always depended on herself and overcome obstacles without help, as a mentee. The only way Miyo can teach her anything is via sumo, so he challenges her to another match. Raw scans of Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 196 continue with images of Maki and Miyo striking various sumo postures, as though from an instructional wrestling manual. Miyo warns her that she’s spending too much time contemplating relationships, omens, and the frailty of humanity as a whole.
Maki says, “Isn’t that the whole idea of sumo?” She must talk to her opponent within the ring, he says, but he points out that her opponent is “born” somewhere else than the ring. Miyo argues that if she were to see her opponent as a human being while fighting, she would have to leave the arena, which is obviously not feasible. Miyo continues the talk by instructing her on how to develop a heightened sense of smell for sunlight and how to feel the opponent’s body as if it were her own. That’s what Maki means when he talks about being free. After his last battle with Miyo, Maki is shown escaping the Simple Domain in the final stolen panel of Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 196. She flashes an infectious grin and brags that her health is superb. The teaser for upcoming chapter 197 of Jujutsu Kaisen is a call to action for Maki to show his true colours.
The leaked spoilers for Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 196 confirm most of the expectations fans had for the next chapter. When Yuji faces up against Todou in Kyoto, Todou shows him how to instantly harness the flow of cursed energy rather than depending on his Divergent Fist, much like Maki’s relationship with Miyo. Similarly, the proclamation made by the wrestling obsessive Culling Game participant at the chapter’s finale hints that she will be the one to terminate the conflict and murder Naoya. Even though Daidou’s position is still unknown, it seems likely that Miyo will become an ally to Maki and Noritoshi.
