Recap of Episode 1030
In the fourth episode of the One Piece Special, Koby and Makino recounted some of Shanks’ most memorable events from throughout the series. At the end of the Marineford war, when Koby was being threatened by the Akainu, it was Shanks who rescued him and went on to single-handedly terminate the struggle. The man with pink hair expressed regret that he would have to confront Luffy and Shanks in the future.
Makino was thinking back on Shanks’ impact on Luffy and the Foosha Village while Koby was reflecting on the conflict. The young mother recalled how the Red Hair Pirates beat off a gang of thugs to protect Luffy. She also recalled the day when Shanks sacrificed his limb to save Luffy from the Lord of the Coast.
The 1031st One Piece episode: Expectations

Now that Kaido recognises Luffy as a threat, the true fighting between them can begin. Fans must not forget that Big Mom is also fighting in this conflict and that she is furious with Kid and Killer for what they have done. Big Mom learned this the hard way when she was thrown off the top of Onigashima and nearly drowned; now she doesn’t care who she’s fighting.
