David Bruckner, who directed Night House, is about to let hell loose. Hulu’s remake of Clive Barker’s 1987 thriller Hellraiser has a new Cenobite to join Pinhead’s army, as seen by newly released photographs from the remake. Director of the upcoming Rebecca Hall-starring horror film Hellraiser 2020 discusses his initial thoughts of the pain-obsessed, inter-dimensional entities when he viewed the picture as a youngster and how those perceptions shaped his approach to making the film.
An exclusive first look at Jamie Clayton as Pinhead and other characters from the upcoming reboot, which will premiere on Hulu on October 7 as part of the streaming service’s annual Huluween celebration of all things terrifying, was released in Entertainment Weekly alongside an interview with the enthusiastic director. In addition to explaining why the Sense8 actress was picked to replace Doug Bradley’s part, Bruckner also introduced many new performers and characters to the Hellraiser canon. Odessa A’zion’s Riley, a young lady with addiction and obsessive behaviour issues, is at the centre of the narrative of the Hellraiser remake (Supercool).
Her character stumbles onto the puzzle box and causes mayhem by opening it and attempting to decipher its secrets, as seen in one of the pictures. Goran Visnjic (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) joins A’zion’s character as a wealthy, well-educated occultist who is intrigued by the Lament Configuration puzzle box. A new figure, whom Bruckner calls “The Mask” and identifies as one of his favourite Cenobites, adds to Clayton’s Pinhead as a source of misery. Bruckner’s frequent partners and the authors of Night House, which was largely inspired by a Hellraiser pitch they offered back in 2012 or 2013, Ben Collins and Luke Piotrowski, penned the screenplay for the upcoming Hellraiser picture, which was shot last year in Belgrade. Drew Starkey (Love, Simon), Adam Faison (Everything’s Gonna Be Okay), Aoife Hinds (Normal People), Jason Liles (Death Note), Selina Lo (Boss Level), and Hiam Abbas’s all-star in the new Hellraiser (Blade Runner 2049). Collins, Piotrowski, and David S. Goyer wrote the film’s screenplay. Goyer, Barker, Keith Levine, and Marc Toberoff are the film’s producers. Gary Barber, Peter Oillataguerre, and Todd Williams all serve as executive producers for Hellraiser. On October 7, you may see Hellraiser on Hulu.
