In Overlord, with the pieces in place, Ainz declares war on the Re-Estize Kingdom. After a methodical yet meticulous set up in the preceding episodes, Overlord 4 is now towards its dramatic conclusion. In Episode 10 of Overlord 4, Ainz will finally show his opponents who’s boss.
Episode 9 Recap: Overlord Season 4
Having arrived in Re-Estize, Albedo brings with him the worries of the Sorcerer Kingdom over Philip Montserrat. The king lowered his head in response and offered an apology to Philip. To everyone’s amazement, the monarch also offered his own head to the Sorcerer Kingdom. When the king made his proposition, Albedo scoffed. There was a time when a monarch would not make a decision that would bring shame to his realm. Upon hearing the king’s counteroffer, Albedo laughed it off. The kingdom of Albedo went to war with the kingdom of Re-Estize despite the king’s audacious proposal to end the conflict. A month after her arrival, at noon, the Sorcerer Kingdom’s armies will mobilise to carry out the decision, which is irrevocable and cannot be reversed.
If Re-Estize tries to assault E-Rantel before the due date, however, the situation will change. The reaction of one noble to Albedo’s proclamation came at the worst possible time. When Albedo started to relay a message from Ainz, the idiot nobleman cut her off. Albedo’s anger was further stoked by this, and she demanded to know whether or not the noble wished to die immediately. The remarks spoken by Albedo shocked the naive nobleman. Therefore, Albedo informed the entire royal court. So, Ainz won’t use the same massive spell he did in the Katze Plains battle again. Therefore, Re-Estize should anticipate a change. At the end of her declaration to Re-Estize, Albedo scolds the nobility for holding doubts about the Sorcerer Kingdom. Look what happened once they concluded that the Sorcerer Kingdom was planning a conspiracy within Re-Estize.
A breakdown in diplomatic ties with the Kingdom of Re-Estize has even Albedo puzzled. There has been no news of a Sorcerer Kingdom-wide mobilisation to Re-Estize for days. Children at one of Princess Renner’s orphanages are undergoing military training under the watchful eye of Brain Unglaus.
There was some speculation of the impending battle among Brain’s trainees. His pupil thought Ainz could be bluffing, but Brain argued the Sorcerer Kingdom didn’t have to take any chances. Ainz would not intentionally deceive the people of their kingdom by declaring war on them. Furthermore, he claimed that he is still perplexed as to why Gazeff Stronoff lost his one-on-one duel against the Undead King. Now that Gazeff has died away, Brain has inherited the prestigious Razor Edge sword of Re-Estize. When it came to Gazeff, Princess Renner was adamant that he handle it. Though Razor Edge can inflict damage on Ainz, it is not enough to kill him on its own. Following Brain’s directive, the kids made a break for it from Re-Estize.
Because of this, they not only stand a chance of survival but also of putting to practice the swordsmanship skills Brain has been teaching them. As a group, Ainz assembled the NPC guards in Nazarick to plot their attack on Re-Estize. Furthermore, he lauded Demiurge for effectively patrolling the streets and stopping the spread of information. Moreover, Albedo is lauded for her attempts to enlist the support of the nobility, which she does willingly. Ainz plans to use a tactic that will stop other countries from intervening in Re-Estize or providing troops. Before the government of Re-Estize can react, all borders will be sealed and the country will be cut off from the rest of the world. This can only be achieved by wiping out every settlement in Re-Estize. Still, that won’t be enough to secure a win. Everything seems to be proceeding as expected, but it does not make it any less worrisome.
When Ainz questioned Cocytus about his previous unsuccessful attack on the lizardmen army, he was asked about this. Ainz concurs with Cocytus’s remark that he gained significant insight from the ordeal. After that, Ainz gives the order for Re-cities Estize’s to be obliterated and its people to be exterminated. Each guardian will also be responsible for a unique set of duties. This time around in the war against Re-Estize, Ainz is the one tasked with invading the kingdom. Cocytus claims that Ainz does not have enough soldiers to protect itself. Aura also let everyone know that some humans managed to get out of the city they were besieging. When Aura found out that Ainz was the one who had permitted this to occur, she questioned him about it.
Ainz went to Nazarick’s fifth level in a flashback. Sebas expressed regret for having to call Ainz, but Nigredo and Pestonya insisted on meeting him in person, thus he was recalled. Even though Ainz didn’t like it, Nigredo’s refusal to leave Ainz’s floor was at his behest. In this instalment, Ainz meets Nigredo and Pestonya for the first time on the fifth level of Nazarick. Nigredo pleaded with Ainz to rethink his decision to kill innocent people in Re-Estize. She maintains that each has an innate capacity for innovation and originality. Pestonya shared Nigredo’s opinion. Ainz, however, vehemently rejected this proposal. He thinks that Nazarick will be in grave danger from a technologically advanced culture. It’s only right to prevent them from modifying the current arrangement.
Pestonya’s last-ditch effort to convince Ainz was to argue that they should spare some innocent lives rather than risk death by confronting Nazarick. Despite his doubts, Ainz finally agreed to Pestonya’s offer. Since Ainz can’t tell Albedo and the others about this part of the plan, he’s in a difficult spot. But he shrugged it aside, deciding to let his future self make the call. In the port city of E-Naeurl, Count Naeura and the mithril-class adventurer Scama Elbero see a swarm of undead that the Sorcerer Kingdom has transformed from the remains of residents from adjacent towns. Two Death Knights have been sent from the Sorcerer Kingdom to E-Naeurl to help the horde of the walking dead. Count Naeura has faith that the Four Armaments mithril adventurer squad would help him defeat Scama.
As Count Naeura rallies his warriors, Lilynette of the Four Armaments has her sights set on something else. She hopes to inherit the Five-Colors Holy Sword if she is successful in vanquishing the horde of the undead. The latter accepted, but only if she would agree to be his third son’s concubine. An army of the dead assaults the city of E-Naeurl. Suddenly, an Adamantite adventurer from Red Drop came while Scama and the other adventures tried to protect themselves from the Death Knight and Death Warrior. Shalltear is worried about how the enemies were able to effortlessly defeat the Death Knight and Death Warrior back in Nazarick. Ainz, to the shock of the NPC guards, said that this was just what he had anticipated.
