An official photo of Evan Peters in his role as Dahmer has been released by Netflix. The streaming service also unveiled a small, 9-second trailer for the TV movie. Producer Ryan Murphy (American Horror Story) and writer Ian Brennan (The Politician, Hollywood) are responsible for Dahmer. Also known as Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, the show will focus on the victims of serial murderer Jeffrey Dahmer rather than on the perpetrator himself. Dahmer murdered seventeen young men and boys between 1978 and 1991.
The unfair police investigations into the murders of Jeffrey Dahmer in Wisconsin will also be explored in detail in the limited series. Even though the actor is shown in costume for the first time in the first official photo from the Dahmer limited series, we can only see his back. The teaser is short and frightening, but it gives viewers a sense of the ominous tone that will permeate the upcoming limited series. The preview opens with a gradual zoom right into the eye of the main character.
As the camera pans out, the iris gradually becomes opaque and seems to swallow the spectator whole. Peters is joined in the cast of Dahmer by Niecy Nash, Penelope Ann Miller, Shaun J. Brown, Colin Ford, and Richard Jenkins. Each season is directed by Paris Barclay, Carl Franklin, and Janet Mock. Murphy and Brennan are not only stars but also executive producers of the new show. The first four episodes of the limited series were written by Murphy and Brennan, and the fifth episode was written by Brennan alone.
In addition to Mock and David McMillan and Reilly Smith and Todd Kubrak, the episode also features the writing of these individuals. The focus of this limited series is a legendary serial murderer who has already been the subject of two movies. Dahmer, a film released in 2002, starred Jeremy Renner as Jeffrey Dahmer. The real-life classmate of Dahmer, Derf Backderf, created a comic book of the same name, and in 2017, former Disney actor Ross Lynch played a teenage version of Dahmer in the film My Friend Dahmer. Peters is one of Murphy’s most reliable coworkers, having been a part of the cast for nine of the show’s 10 seasons. Peters was also featured in eight episodes of Pose.
Murphy is now working on a number of new Netflix programmes, including The Watcher and A Chorus Line. Murphy also has two new FX projects in the works: American Love Story and American Sports Story. Dahmer will likely be available on Netflix later in 2018.
