The Hollywood Reporter reports that Disney+ has announced a new slate of unscripted originals from the United Kingdom, including shows like the Wagatha Christie documentary narrated by Coleen Rooney, Keanu Reeves’ Brawn: The One Pound Formula 1 Team, Asif Kapadia’s Camden, Raw and Vogue’s In Vogue: the 1990s, and Shine TV’s Finding Michael.
Several topics covered by the new slate are, without a doubt, astounding. Nonetheless, Wagatha Christie (working title) is one of the most talked-about items on the schedule since it provides evidence for one of the biggest British tabloid news tales of the previous decade.
Coleen Rooney, the wife of soccer player Wayne Rooney, narrates her own documentary about her efforts to find the source of rumours that have been published about her. This includes Rebekah Vardy’s defamation action against Wayne Rooney, the wife of another soccer star. Coleen, along with her family and friends, will be interviewed for the documentary. Brawn: The One Pound Formula 1 Squad, another working title by Reeves, is also much anticipated. It is about the 2009 World Champion Brawn GP team. Among the members of the underdog squad that was purchased for £1 will be Jenson Button, and Reeves will narrate and conduct interviews with Brawn and others. “I am pleased to be a part of narrating the great story of Brawn GP and their miraculous F1 Championship Season in 2009 with people who lived it in this four-part documentary series,” Reeves said, praising the streamer and the producing partners North One for bringing this tale to life.
A “landmark era for fashion, music, and movies,” the ’90s will be examined in In Vogue: The Decade. During this time, fashion was full of iconoclasm, expressiveness, and uniqueness as it made its way into the mainstream. Anna Wintour, an editor of Vogue, remarked, “The personalities were larger than life, too.” The documentary will feature Wintour, British Vogue editor Edward Enninful, and other major people from the ’90s, including designers, models, and singers. Spencer Matthews, star of a reality show, plans to climb Mount Everest like his younger brother Michael, who at 22 became the youngest Briton to reach the summit. Unfortunately, after reaching the peak, he vanished and his corpse was never located.
In Finding Michael, Spencer embarks on a trek to the Himalayas to make peace with his family’s history and, perhaps, find his missing brother. Finally, Kapadia’s Camden will add an Oscar-worthy glimmer to the slate of programming with its investigation of the North London neighbourhood’s influence on music. “This series highlights an ever-evolving music scene in a unique town that has always been at the vanguard of counterculture and has a musical heritage that can be matched anyplace in the world,” the Oscar-winning filmmaker said. Disney+ has pledged to produce 60 local programmes by 2024 in an effort to expand its worldwide subscriber base, and this declaration was made during the Edinburgh TV Festival.
Directing Unscripted Content for EMEA, Sean Doyle, said that the company is committed to developing Disney+ as a destination for unscripted titles and is working with “elite creative partners” to do so. At this time, there is no information on when any of these titles will be available on the streaming service.
