Orphan Black: Echoes, an AMC spinoff, now has its starring actors: Amanda Fix and Avan Jogia. Both will co-star with Krysten Ritter in the revival of the Orphan Black universe.
Jules, the adopted teen daughter of affluent parents, will be played by Fix, a rising star in the entertainment industry. Jules is a bit of a risk taker, but she is extremely bright and continues to learn about herself. Jack, played by Jogia and portrayed by Ritter, is a single parent and former army medic who has devoted his life to raising his daughter. Soon enough, though, Jack learns that the lady he loves is hiding a terrible secret.
In Orphan Black: Echoes, four women go on a quest to discover who they are among the many unexpected turns that occur in their connected lives. The first season of Orphan Black premiered in 2013, and by the time it ended in 2017, the show had amassed a tremendous fan base. Tatiana Maslany won an Emmy for her role as a lady with seven clones located in different parts of Europe and North America. Given that this new series is being promoted as an original tale taking place in the same universe, we shouldn’t hold our breath for Maslany’s comeback. Though certain things may change, Orphan Black co-creators Anna Fishko and John Fawcett will be returning to the new show.
With the announcement of the new programme, Fawcett has discussed how it feels to be back in her roles as director and executive producer. It’s thrilling to be starting a new chapter in the Orphan Black tale with Anna, our colleagues at Boat Rocker, and AMC, as Fawcett gushed in a statement. “I’m really happy that we can finally present this new chapter to all of our devoted OB fans out there. For our loyal audience, without whom none of this new performance would be possible, I am eternally thankful. It’s going to be so much fun to “follow the wacky science” with them!” Fishko will not only co-create the new programme, but also write for it, oversee the show, and produce it as an executive producer.
David Fortier, Ivan Schneeberg, Katie O’Connell Marsh, Nick Nantell, Kerry Appleyard, and Ritter will join Fishko and Fawcett on the executive producing team. The launch date for Orphan Black: Echoes has not been announced, although it will air on AMC sometime in 2023.
