Over the past few months, Eric Kripke has been fueling speculation that a certain Supernatural alum will make a cameo appearance in Season 4 of The Boys, and it appears that his efforts were not in vain. Today marks the formal announcement that Jeffrey Dean Morgan will be joining the cast of Prime Video’s violent superhero series, which is now in production in Toronto. His addition to the ensemble follows those of Valorie Curry and Susan Heyward, both of whom were announced earlier this month. Filming for the forthcoming Walking Dead spin-off series Dead City has been taking place in New York City, where Jeffrey Dean Morgan has become a household name as the ruthless Negan.
His portrayal of John Winchester on Supernatural is the most iconic of his many roles. For Season 4, Morgan will be working with Eric Kripke, the man responsible for creating Supernatural and running the programme for its first five seasons. Not only did Morgan join the cast of The Boys for Season 3, but Jensen Ackles, who played Morgan’s son Dean Winchester on Supernatural, joined the group for Season 3 as Soldier Boy. Morgan has been cast in a recurring role on the show, but the Boys aren’t saying much about his character in the upcoming season.
After thirty years in the business, he has portrayed everyone from sympathetic doctors on Grey’s Anatomy to horrifying bad guys like Negan. It’s anyone’s guess who he’d be portraying in this sick superhero show. When Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) found out he didn’t have long to live, it placed a lot of The Boys’ characters in a rather grave predicament. Nothing is known about his future, but it’s safe to assume that now that he knows he may die heroically if he chooses, his vendetta against Homelander (Antony Starr) and the Supes will reach new heights.
The man has never had a shred of survival instinct, and what little he may have had in the final hours of his life will surely be discarded. The situation is certain to get chaotic as a result of society’s unwavering acceptance of Homelander’s propensity for murder. Jack Quaid, Erin Moriarty, Dominique McElligott, Jessie T. Usher, Laz Alonso, Chace Crawford, Tomer Capone, Karen Fukuhara, Nathan Mitchell, Colby Minifie, and Claudia Doumit all appeared in episodes of season 3 of The Boys.
