The Boys, a hilarious and bloody superhero series on Prime Video, has been in the spotlight this week. It’s been great to get practically daily updates on who is landing in Toronto, Canada, where the series is shot, thanks to teases and confirmations from prominent performers like Antony Starr that cameras have begun rolling for Season 4. Both Erin Moriarty and Jack Quaid have confirmed their presence on site in separate Instagram postings today. The actor’s tweet shows him flipping the bird and is captioned with “Back to work!” and a hashtag related to The Boys, so his fans know exactly what he’s been up to. Moriarty followed in the footsteps of her co-star and hinted at her attitude in the caption by choosing to smile and flick off the camera.
The actress then shared a second photo of herself giving the thumbs up with a bright grin and a statement that not only made fun of Quaid but also of the series’ main antagonist, Vought International. The actress expressed her excitement about returning to the set of the programme, which she referred to as her “2nd home” and her “work fam.” The comments by Moriarty and Quaid follow the announcement, just hours earlier, that Jeffrey Dean Morgan would be joining the Eric Kripke-created series. Many viewers expected this to happen since Kripke has been spreading speculation about the actor’s participation in the creation of The Walking Dead.
With Morgan’s return, the pair will be reunited after working together on Kripke’s other smash hit, Supernatural, which ran for 15 seasons. We may expect that Jared Padalecki will make an appearance on The Boys someday because fellow Supernatural actor Jensen Ackles appeared in Season 3. Last month, we learned that Valorie Curry and Susan Heyward would also be joining the cast, and this week, we learned that Morgan would be joining them as well. The Boys Season 3’s conclusion froze Ackles’ Soldier Boy once again and left many issues unsolved, suggesting that we may see him again in the future, possibly even with his ex-Supernatural co-star. That’s what we’re hoping for, anyhow.
Meanwhile, the fate of Becca Butcher (Shantel VanSanten) and Ryan Homelander’s (Starr) superpowered son remains an open issue (Cameron Crovetti). Billy Butcher (Karl Urban), who was supposed to look after his late wife’s child, failed miserably, and the boy was eventually returned to his psychotic father. Since this time around, Crovetti is a series regular, there is undoubtedly more plot to come.
