Two more actors have been added to the ensemble cast of With Love for its upcoming second season. Gloria Calderón Kellett, the show’s creator, confirmed through Twitter that Lisa Vidal and Isabella Gomez will be in the upcoming season. She sent an excitedly captioned photo to Instagram announcing the news, “Blazing in the heart!!! You’ve got two of my favourite things in one package! The introduction to Liz and Diana is long overdue.” This feeling was mutual for Vidal. As said, Vidal and Gomez will play Liz and Diana, respectively; however, their precise roles within the show remain as yet unknown. Considering the show’s overall framework established in Season 1 and its focus on many forms of love, the two might be anybody from long-lost pals to a new romantic interest to long-lost family members.
The addition of Gomez and Vidal to the cast increases the number of familiar faces. Gomez has previously collaborated with Kellet on his executive-produced and co-created Netflix original series One Day at a Time (ODAAT), on which Gomez also appeared. Gomez played as Elena Alvarez, a lesbian teenager with a strong commitment to social justice, in the drama for its full four seasons. Todd Grinnell (Schneider), who plays Miles in With Love, will rejoin Gomez from their time on ODAAT. Gomez’s acting resume includes more than just “Elena.” She was also a star of the TV show Matador.
She will next be seen as Gina in the forthcoming film version of the young adult novel Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe. In addition, Vidal and Kellett, who previously collaborated on the film History of Them, meet up again. Kellett wrote and oversaw production for the film, which featured Vidal as Tatiana. Vidal has also appeared in a number of other important works besides the film. She is well-known in the television industry for her roles as Kara in Being Mary Jane and, most recently, Mari in The Baker and the Beauty. Her roles in films like “Victor” and “Star Trek” stand out in my mind.
The first season of With Love consisted of five episodes that took place at different times of the year. Jorge Jr. (Mark Indelicato) and Lily Diaz (Emeraude Toubia) were the main characters, and the show mostly followed them as they explored new romantic interests. Jorge and Lily’s parents went through some rocky patches in their marriage, and their cousin Sol (Isis King) started a new relationship this season. In the last moments of the season, fans were left wondering who of Lily, Jorge, or Sol would wind up getting engaged. The second season will continue in this vein.
There will be a total of six episodes, and each will cover one day leading up to the wedding. Kellet not only stars in but also creates, writes, and serves as an executive producer of the series. There are also newbies to the series such as Busy Philipps, Cameron Esposito, Scott Evans, Jeanine Mason, Lauren “Lolo” Spencer, Adrian Gonzalez, and Briana Cuoco. Constance Marie, Vincent Rodriguez III, Desmond Chaim, Benito Martinez, and Rome Flynn also recur on the show regularly. A premiere date for Season 2 of With Love has not been set, although filming has begun.
