Takemichi’s vision at the chapter’s close hints that mangaka Wakui will soon reveal the mechanics of time-leaping and related powers. This is expected to happen in the following chapter.
Takemichi as seen through Mikey’s eyes
Mikey continues the reminiscence by thinking back to when he first met Takemichi. Takemichi was a wimp and a crier, yet he never wavered from fighting for what he thought was right. Mikey can always count on him to be there for him, but the Kantou commander frequently wonders why Takemichi takes a stance for or against him. At the conclusion of the lengthy flashback in Tokyo Revengers chapter 266, the action returns to the present, and Mikey asks Takemichi why he continues getting back up with such a wounded body while knowing well well he has no chance of winning. Takemichi explains that he promised to save Mikey many times, first to Mikey in the future, and then to Baji and Draken in the past before they died.
The fresh perspective of Takemichi
Takemichi recalls that Hina had asked him to share his anxieties, but he is now free of any apprehension. He has seen several futures and the deaths of many of his friends, including Hina, Naoto, and Chifuyu. He has witnessed Mikey’s demise and has seen him in countless incarnations. When Takemichi thinks back on it all, he says with conviction, “I can’t lose; I’m the only one who can free Mikey from the shadows.” As Takemichi sobs his heart out, Mikey ignores him and begins kicking him in the head. Even when the 2nd Gen Toman leader, Takemichi, gets back up, Mikey continues to beat him mercilessly, to the point that Takemichi is losing his eyesight and hearing. Mikey says indifferently that he should have died already since the man’s ears are bleeding and he can’t keep his balance.
Takemichi has a sudden flash of Mikey kicking him down for what appears to be the last time. Thinking about when this future would occur, he gets another lethal kick to the temple from Mikey, and he realises it is occurring right now. The first striking thing about Tokyo Revengers chapter 266 is that despite Mikey’s great admiration for Takemichi, there is a major discrepancy between his feelings and his actions towards Takemichi. Mikey looks to have lost hope and, thus, cut ties emotionally with the one person who may save him. This is partly due to Kisaki’s manipulations, but there are also other factors involved.
Over the course of the past several episodes, Wakui has been gradually revealing Takemichi’s pain from his habit of repeatedly jumping across time. Takemichi’s dedication is one of his greatest strengths, and he has never been more determined to achieve anything than he is to save Mikey, but this just serves to highlight that fact. Another facet of Takemichi’s visions is brought to light in chapter 266 of Tokyo Revengers. Takemichi’s visions have fewer and shorter delays between them and their actual realisation. As opposed to his vision of Senju’s death, which occurred many hours after he completed seeing it and Draken’s death in her stead, this vision of Mikey occurs in real-time, only seconds after he finishes seeing it.
The vision Takemichi had in Tokyo Revengers chapter 266 strongly suggests that Mikey’s final kick might be his last. Takemichi may not die, but he may lose consciousness. Mikey’s intentions and drive are both murky at best. Mikey from the future wanted to be saved, while Mikey from the present only wants to get rid of his rescuer. Just like he did with Kazutora, Takemichi has a knack for getting to the heart of his buddy and drawing out his humanity. Thanks to him, Mikey is able to open up and seek assistance when he needs it.
Chapter 266 of Tokyo Revengers reveals that the crybaby Hero must save his comrade once again as the story draws to a close, but it is unclear how he intends to do it.

Mikey looked back on his time spent with Kisaki in the prior chapter. He overrode strong objections to letting the latter into Toman and then sought advice from him. Mikey took the decision to turn to the shadows on purpose so that he could strengthen himself and better defend the people he cares about. During the battle in Valhalla, Takemichi stepped in front of Kazutora to shield him from Mikey’s wrath, and Kazutora snapped out of his trance.
