Prime Video’s newest project, Saltburn, has expanded its roster with new actors. Previously announced cast members Jacob Elordi, Barry Keoghan, and Rosamund Pike have been joined by Richard E. Grant, Archie Madekwe, and Alison Oliver for the ensemble film directed by Emerald Fennell. Grant has been in the spotlight for many years and has been in a wide range of films and TV shows. Most recently, he provided his voice for Tuca & Bertie and will be featured in Netflix’s upcoming 2022 rendition of Persuasion. Can You Ever Forgive Me?, Penelope, The Little Vampire, and others may also bring him to mind.
Madekwe shot to fame after appearing in an Apple TV show called “See.” As well, he was in Ari Aster’s Midsommar. This past year, Oliver made her TV debut in the Hulu remake of the sitcom Conversations with Friends. No one is talking about the film’s plot. Amazon, however, has let slip that the movie would be a “tale of obsession” about a wealthy family. If Fennell’s previous picture, Promising Young Woman, is any indicator, Saltburn might be an action-packed thrill trip.
The tale of a woman’s search for justice in Promising Young Woman was cutting, unpleasant, and disturbing, and it ended in a way that divided audiences. Fennell won the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay of the film’s five nominations. Fennell, Margot Robbie, Tom Ackerley, and Josey McNamara of LuckyChap Entertainment produce Saltburn. Our DP, the talented Linus Sandgren, has joined the team. Producers MRC Film and Amazon Studios are behind the film.
Cinematic distribution is handled by MGM and Amazon Studios, while Prime Video will distribute the picture in 240 countries and territories. Amazon Studios President Jennifer Salke and Amazon Studios Head of Movies Julie Rapaport released the following statement to the media: “We were immediately captivated by “Saltburn.” When it comes to the film industry, Emerald is in a class all her own as a triple threat. We are so excited to be collaborating with the brilliant minds at MRC and LuckyChap to realise Emerald’s vision and deliver this film to audiences across the world.”
The two co-presidents of MRC Films, Brye Adler and Jonathan Golfman, said additionally:
“With ‘Saltburn,’ Emerald once again displays the unique voice and provocative sensibility that made her first film one of the most daring, arresting, and assured debuts of the previous decade. We’re overjoyed to be working with her, LuckyChap, and our pals at Prime Video and MGM to get her vision out to people all over the world.” Production on Saltburn has begun, however, there is no set release date at this time.
