Sometimes you might get a first impression from meeting someone and know right away that you want to keep your distance. The other person’s persistence, or your own natural interest, causes you to stop avoiding them and start talking. The new Beautiful Disaster trailer is based on this idea. Short teaser trailer starring Dylan Sprouse (After We Collide) and Virginia Gardner as Travis and Abby were published by Voltage Pictures (Runaways).
Travis is portrayed as a charming bad guy with an overblown sense of self-importance. From the beginning of the trailer on, we witness a dogged Travis who is determined to win over college student Abby despite her several rejections.
Abby is so reserved that, even after Travis has successfully set up a date with her, he jokes that she is “a treasure of knowledge.” For one, it appears as Travis succeeds in convincing Abby of his point of view at the end of the trailer, demonstrating the value of staying the course. They spark off of each other like lightning, yet Abby seems to be hiding something sinister. The film Beautiful Disaster is based on the New York Times best-selling book of the same name by Jamie McGuire. Director Roger Kumble, whose filmography includes Cruel Intentions and After We Collided, is at the helm of this new version.
The director earlier told Collider that he was thrilled to be reuniting with Sprouse and the film’s company after working with him on After We Collided. “I had a wonderful time working with Voltage and Dylan Sprouse on After We Collided, and I’m pleased to be partnering with Ginny Gardner on bringing another famous story to life,” Kumble said. Beautiful Disaster also stars Gardner, Austin North, Libe Barer, Rob Estes, and Brian Austin Green in addition to the reunited Kumble and Sprouse. Brian Pitt, Mark Clayman, and Jonathan Deckler, President/COO of Voltage, are producing the picture, and the company will also be responsible for its worldwide distribution.
Synopsis
In Beautiful Disaster, bad guy Travis Maddox is the last thing college freshman Abby Abernathy needs or desires. He’s the greatest college campus charmer by day and fights in underground boxing battles at night. Abby, though, is completely over Travis. Travis, intrigued by Abby’s resistance to his charms, proposes a bet: if he loses his next battle, he must abstain from sex for a month. If he does, Abby will have to stay in his place for as long. Either way, Travis is about to meet his match if the secrets from Abby’s background become public knowledge.
