Last week, we revealed that Collider will be hosting a special screening of the horror film Barbarian in Los Angeles; if you’re reading this and you happen to be in or around New York, you can still catch our second showing the following week. Both screenings were presented by Collider in collaboration with 20th Century Studios and New Regency to give horror fans an early look at the film and an opportunity to ask questions of the director and actors before it premieres in cinemas. Before the screening began, an exclusive clip was shown, which we can now share with you here on Collider.
In the video, played by Justin Long, AJ is shown measuring a tunnel that turns out to be very extensive. He finds what seems like a hidden hideout, but then something more pressing occurs. In Barbarian, the protagonist is a female who, after being double-booked in an Airbnb, stays with a stranger since she has no time to move before a crucial job interview the next morning. But as the preview shows, the stranger isn’t even the worst thing that will happen to her that night. Zach Cregger, who previously starred in comedies like About a Boy, Guys With Kids, and Opening Night, now writes and directs the terrifying horror film Barbarian.
The film is a sequel to his previous effort, The Civil War on Drugs, which came out more than ten years ago. Joining Long in Barbarian are the likes of Georgina Campbell (Apple TV+’s Suspicion), Bill Skarsgrd (the It series), Matthew Patrick Davis (Dwight in Shining Armor), Richard Brake (The Mandalorian), Jaymes Butler (Big Game), Kurt Braunohler (The Big Sick), and Kate Bosworth (House of Darkness). On September 9, see the debut of Barbarian in cinemas.
