More A-listers have been joining what was already a stellar ensemble for the upcoming season of the Netflix series Black Mirror. Rory Culkin’s casting as a main character in the forthcoming season was announced not too long ago. Little is known about the upcoming season at this time, but it appears that Salma Hayek Pinault and Annie Murphy will be joining the actor who appeared in the FX drama Under the Banner of Heaven. Variety reports that Zazie Beetz (Atlanta), Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad), Paapa Essiedu (The Lazarus Project), Danny Ramirez (Top Gun: Maverick), Josh Hartnett, Kate Mara, Clara Rugaard, Auden Thornton, and Anjana Vasan are all in discussions to join the series.
Little has been made public about the show, so it’s anyone’s guess what kind of parts Hayek Pinault and Murphy would play. In recognition of her work as a guest star on the hit comedy-drama Ugly Betty, Hayek Pinault was nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series. The actress has been quite busy as of late, having created the Disney Feature series Santa Evita and is set to star in the next film Magic Mike: Last Dance, directed by Steven Soderbergh. Filming on Without Blood, starring Angelina Jolie, has also concluded with the help of Hayek Pinault.
Last year, Hayek Pinault appeared in two major motion pictures: “House of Gucci” by Ridley Scott and “Eternals” by Marvel. TV and film roles for Murphy include the lead in Kevin Can F*** Himself and the Netflix original Russian Doll. One of her most recognisable performances was as Alexis Rose, a supporting character on the critically acclaimed comedy series Schitt’s Creek, for which she was nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series. This anthology series, known as “Black Mirror,” uses creative and exaggerated narratives on particular areas of how we connect with the internet and technology, both positively and negatively, to demonstrate our reliance on these tools.
There will be more episodes in the current season than there were in the previous three years. In 2020, programme founders Charlie Brooker and Annabel Jones quit their firm, House of Tomorrow. During the height of the epidemic, when the series was on hiatus because of the relocation, Brooker made comments that cast doubt on the show’s eventual comeback. Brooker told Radio Times, “At the moment, I don’t know what stomach there would be for tales about countries going apart, so I’m not working away on one of them. To that end, I’ve begun creating comedy scripts with the intention of making myself laugh. Black Mirror Season 6 has not been scheduled for release, but you can watch the first five seasons on Netflix right now if you can’t wait.
