Deadline claims that Neve Campbell will play the main role in ABC’s upcoming drama series Avalon. Campbell, novelist Michael Connelly, executive producer Ross Fineman, and series creator and executive producer David E. Kelley (Big Sky, Big Little Lies) are working together again on this project. The series is based on a short tale written by Connelly, and it follows Nic Searcy, the sheriff of Avalon and a former LAPD officer with a strong moral compass. Catalina Island’s little community may appear tranquil at first glance, yet a visitor may easily disrupt the locals’ tranquilly.
Sheriff Searcy’s preconceived notions about Avalon and herself will be challenged by this unexpected presence as she sets out to unravel a mystery. Her work in scary movies is what made Campbell famous. Almost everyone recognises her as Sidney Prescott, the protagonist’s ultimate love interest, from the original Scream and its sequels. In 1996’s The Craft, she had a pivotal part as Bonnie Harper, a wounded teenager who discovers her witchcraft abilities. She has also appeared in several episodes of popular TV programmes including “Mad Men,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” and “Welcome to Sweden.”
Her portrayal of Texas political strategist LeAnn Harvey on House of Cards earned her acclaim. In June of 2022, it was reported that the actress will not be returning to the Scream series. Netflix’s The Lincoln Lawyer, which also featured Fineman and A+E Studios, is Campbell’s other project with Kelley and Connelly.
She’ll be back for more in season two as a regular cast member. To add to his duties as Avalon’s executive producer, Kelley will also pen the pilot episode. Fineman, on behalf of Fineman Entertainment, will serve as executive producer with Dana Calvo. Barry Jossen and Tana Jamieson, both of A+E Studios, also serve as executive producers.
As part of a partnership with 20th Television, the firm will create the show. An interview with Campbell, Courteney Cox, and Melissa Barrera about the newest Scream flick was published earlier this year. Campbell and Cox talked about their time working with Wes Craven on the first four Scream movies, as well as their time working with Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett on the fifth instalment, and much more.
