After a month’s vacation, the Boruto: Naruto Next Generations manga will resume on August 20, 2022, with the release of Chapter 72. Spoilers have been leaked online and are already making the rounds, offering fans a preview of some exciting developments. Following the events of Chapter 71, readers of the manga have been left to speculate on a variety of possible scenarios for the ongoing Code Arc.
Chapter 72 Spoilers have been Revealed
The first page of stolen manga artwork is the chapter 72 cover, which features none other than Momoshiki Otsutsuki. In the Earlier Chapters, Momoshiki made a pretty damaging appearance, resulting in a struggle with Kawaki and nearly destroying his vessel. Momoshiki left his ship with a cryptic and foreboding prophecy after mending Boruto’s organs with the leftover compressed Otsutsuki DNA. Because of Chapter 71’s emphasis on Code, Eida, and Kawaki, readers might be surprised to see Momoshiki reappear so soon.
His reappearance may shed light on whether or not the Otsutsuki can still take over Boruto’s consciousness even if he couldn’t reincarnate entirely, therefore resolving questions about Momoshiki’s villainy. An additional stolen panel from the next chapter lends credence to this notion. Similar to his appearance in Chapter 67, Momoshiki is shown here standing in front of Boruto. To all appearances, he did not take control of his ship. Instead, he stresses to the young protagonist again that he is not in charge of his own future.
The next page was also spoiled. After their meeting with Momoshiki, Sarada and Mitsuki arrive to discover a frustrated Boruto, who promptly leaves.
The arrival of Eida in Konoha
According to Chapter 72 teasers, Eida and Daemon are on their way to Konoha with Amado in tow. Amado is shown on the phone to Shikamaru in the panel, informing him about the events at Code’s hideaway and Eida’s choice to side with Konoha. Perhaps Amado has omitted some key details, such as telling Eida that Kawaki is his ace in the hole.
Hinata has some concerns
Images of a distraught Hinata may be seen in the teasers for Chapter 72, suggesting that she has just learned of her son’s brush with death. Boruto promises his mom he will return to her forever.
The Ten-Tails are awoken by code
The most disturbing revelation depicts Code in what appears to be an attempt to reawaken the Ten-Tails, which have assumed a human form. Given that Code appears to be amassing an army to avenge Kawaki, this spoiler has given rise to a number of fan hypotheses. Since the Fourth Ninja War, the Ten-Tails has not posed a real danger again until now. The panels from Chapter 72 of the manga have been released, and they hint at a big attack on Konoha village that might lead to the deaths of prominent characters like Sasuke, Shikamaru, and even Naruto. Given Kawaki’s fixation on Naruto, this may explain why he took such a hostile posture after the time jump in the first episode.
The fact that Momoshiki had warned Boruto about something terrible happening to him in the future lends credence to this argument. The blue eyes he received from Naruto or a hidden talent he discovers are likely reasons for this, as are the expectations of the readers. What he did to awaken Momoshiki’s own skills is unknown, although it might be a contributing factor.
