Abbott Elementary, ABC’s smash comedy series, is almost ready to return for its second season. After waiting for what seems like forever, the first glimpses are here in the form of a fresh new teaser and poster, with just over a month to go. Quinta Brunson, who plays Janine, is featured front and centre on the new poster, along with Lisa Ann Walter, who plays Melissa, Tyler James Williams, who plays Gregory, William Stanford Davis, who plays Mr Johnson, Chris Perfetti, who plays Jacob, who plays Janelle James, who plays Ava, and who plays Sheryl Lee Ralph, who plays Barbara.
They’re sitting in a school bus with the slogan “picking up where they dropped off,” which is rather fitting. The fictional Abbott Elementary is a Philadelphia public school that has been severely underfunded in the mockumentary series Abbott Elementary. It takes viewers into the classrooms of a handful of dedicated educators who are doing their best to provide their kids with a quality education despite limited resources.
In contrast to Season 1, which took place nearly entirely within the school’s walls, Season 2 will provide viewers with a deeper glimpse into the teachers’ lives outside of the classroom after a hard day. The full season order for the second season is a significant improvement above the first season’s 13 episodes. The programme has received widespread acclaim from both critics and viewers since its launch last year, and it has now become a fan favourite on television.
Recent events include the show’s dominance at the TCAs when it took home four trophies (including Program of the Year) and dominated the conversation. When Brunson received three Emmy nods in July, she became the only person ever to do it. In addition to its many accolades, Abbott Elementary School is committed to making a positive impact on the lives of its neighbours. The programme started its “Think Outside the (Lunch) Box” initiative in April to bring attention to the issue of hunger and to provide 150,000 lunches to Feeding America.
Abbott Elementary’s activation at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con not only gave spectators an interactive experience but also raised money for Scholastic wishlists around the country. Brunson conceptualised, scripted, and oversaw the production of Abbott Elementary. Patrick Schumacker, Justin Halpern, and Randall Einhorn are also executive producers. In addition to being available on Hulu and HBO Max, the series’ streaming availability will increase to a wider audience starting on August 20. A new episode of Abbott Elementary will air on ABC on Wednesday, September 21.
