According to an exclusive report from Deadline, critically renowned actor Nick Nolte (Warrior) is slated to feature in a new psychological thriller named Eugene The Marine. Concourse Media will be in charge of producing the film. While details about the impending psychological thriller are few, Nolte has been cast as the lead character, a widower and ex-marine named Gene. Gene’s son is pressuring him to sell their home, making life increasingly unstable, and the film will follow Gene as he tries to deal with these challenges.
But when he meets a mystery woman, his life begins to unravel, and he finds himself unable to tell dreams from reality. Although Nolte has been confirmed for the major part, no additional actors have been revealed. Hank Bedford, who previously helmed Dixieland, is attached to lead the picture, and shooting is set to begin later this fall. Bedford and Cesare Gagliardoni co-wrote the screenplay for Eugene the Marine.
The film will be produced by Stephen Vincent of Concourse Media, with Matthew Shredder of that company serving as executive producer. As filming ramps up later this year, more details about the film are likely to emerge. After being nominated for an Oscar three times for his work in films like The Prince of Tides and Affliction, and most recently Warrior (2011), in which he co-starred with Tom Hardy and Joel Edgerton, Nolte continues to get praise for his acting.
The actor has lately been seen in noteworthy roles in films like The Mandalorian (as the extraterrestrial Kuiil) and Paradise Lost (as Judge Forsythe). Nolte also had a role in Angel Has Fallen, the third film in the Has Fallen series. In addition to his upcoming role in Eugene the Marine, the actor has been cast in the upcoming Peacock mystery thriller Poker Face, which was developed by Knives Out’s Rian Johnson. Rittenhouse Square, directed by Brandon Eric Kamin, and Blackout, directed by Sam Macaroni, are two more films to which the actor has been linked. The film is still under pre-production, thus there is no set date for the release of Eugene the Marine.
