The events of Cobra Kai Season 4 have resulted in significant changes for the valley and its inhabitants, under the dominion of Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith). After the events of the All Valley Tournament, Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) became an Uber driver, Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) closed the Miyagi-do dojo, and Silver’s brand of harsh, no-mercy karate radiated out from the Cobra Kai dojo and onto the streets of Los Angeles. In spite of the fact that this is the worst possible timeline, Johnny, Daniel, and Chozen (Yuji Okumoto) are prepared to fight back and take back the valley’s symbolic heart. Beginning with Johnny’s employment woes in the ridesharing business, this trailer is decidedly more comic in tone than the previous teaser released earlier this year. While Silver spreads the Cobra Kai name across Los Angeles, he and Daniel have put up their gis.
The number of pupils taking part is at an all-time high, and he wants that number to keep rising. There should be more academies, meaning more pupils and more strict teachers. Silver manages to keep up his spotless public image as a kind sensei with a heart of gold even as the empire expands and life generally gets worse in the valley as more pupils utilise their new powers for bad. Dissatisfied with the status quo, the unusual trio decides to take matters into their own hands and eliminate Silver.
This leads to Silver and Danny’s last fight and an unlikely alliance between Chozen and Johnny. Instead of focusing on their fight against Cobra Kai, the story shifts to Johnny and Daniel’s personal problems at home. Johnny has yet to put the pieces of his broken relationship with Miguel (Xolo Mariduea) and Robbie (Tanner Buchanan) together, while Amanda, Daniel’s wife (Courtney Henggeler), wants it to be over as soon as possible. Finally, the teaser shows John Kreese (Martin Kove) in prison, where things adopt a decidedly lighter tone.
His merciless karate is a terrific tool for getting along with people, so they say. Cobra Kai continues the Miyagi-verse began in the original Karate Kid series and is currently streaming on Netflix (seasons 1-3 only). The story continues with Johnny’s point of view as he revives the dojo and experiences numerous problems while trying to restore its reputation.
In addition to familiar faces like Ralph Macchio and Mark Zabka, the series also stars newcomers like Mary Mouser, Jacob Bertrand, Gianni Decenzo, Vanessa Rubio, Peyton List, and Dallas Dupree Young, Oona O’Brien, and Griffin Santopietro. Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg created and serve as executive producers on the series.
On September 9, 2018, the fifth season of Cobra Kai will premiere. With the All Valley Tournament ending in such a stunning fashion, Season 5 finds Terry Silver growing the Cobra Kai empire and aiming to make his “No Mercy” brand of karate the only game in town. Daniel LaRusso has no choice but to reach out to an old acquaintance for assistance now that Kreese is behind bars and Johnny Lawrence has put karate on hold to fix the damage he’s made.
