The next Saw film from Lionsgate and Twisted Pictures will be released on October 27, 2023, in time for Halloween. This will be the eleventh episode in the horror genre. There is no working title for the picture at the moment, but that will change as soon as production gets underway. Although the film’s premise is currently under wraps, Kevin Greutert, who directed Saw VI and Saw: The Final Chapter, will be at the helm of the tenth film in the Saw franchise. The director’s resume also includes credits for films like “Jessabelle” and “Jackals,” both of which are works in the horror genre.
Besides helming the series, Greutert edited the first five Saw movies as well as Jigsaw. Greutert’s return to the series might mean that the films will once again adhere to the formula that made them so beloved by horror aficionados. Producing partners Mark Burg and Oren Koules had this to say in response to the news: “We have been listening to what the fans have been asking for and are hard at work crafting a movie that Saw enthusiasts and horror lovers alike will appreciate.” Kevin Greutert, director of Saw VI, which is still beloved by fans, will play a key role in this endeavour. Directed by James Wan (The Conjuring), the first Saw picture was released in 2004 and was based on Wan’s own short film of the same name. Audiences flocked to witness the horrific fatal traps set by Jigsaw, and the film earned $103.9 million at the box office despite receiving mixed reviews (Tobin Bell). As a result of the film’s financial success, a sequel was released every year until 2010, when Saw: The Final Chapter was released as a final instalment. Jigsaw (2017) and Spiral: From the Book of Saw (a revival of the movie starring Chris Rock) brought the film series back after a seven-year absence. Now, with a new film scheduled for release next Halloween season, fans may experience the horrifying return of the series on the big screen.
