Together with the return of Esther in a new trailer for Orphan: First Kill, the filmmakers have also announced the film’s official digital release date. The digital release of the prequel to the 2009 horror film will occur simultaneously with its launch on Paramount+ and in cinemas worldwide on August 19. Orphan followed Esther (Isabelle Fuhrman), a 33-year-old woman who pretended to be a kid in order to gain adoption, on her twisted and violent journey to establish a family of her own.

The documentary follows a French con artist who fooled a family into thinking he was their missing child for five months before a fingerprint test proved him to be a fraud. After serving six years in a Texas jail for identity theft, the 30-year-old felon continued to deceive families by posing as a number of orphaned and missing youths in Europe.
